This page has a bit of history and a beautiful commentary on UW1 & UW2.
It also has details on every release of UW1 & UWII including a Sony Playstation version of UWI! (Japanese only) I wonder if Bleem! would play it? Apparently it has improved graphics. Why they didn't release a US version, I'll never know.

From the back of the box it looks like they improved the graphics quite a bit... unfortunately the game is in japanese...

If I understand correctly, the whole "dungeon crawl" sub-genre is quite popular across the Pacific. For further proof, the entire Wizardry series is available for PSX over there.
