Colors and lighting that doesn't wash all the nifty textures to monochrome. It also means more Thief elements can be added back in. The excitement is not over the superficial but the return of familiar atmosphere, the chance to fix everything.
But that's all been stated before. Simple yet unable to penetrate thick skulls. Nothing miraculous at all, and totally expected, and it's what you've been told more than once and deflected everytime. You...don't...get...IT.
The potential for classic Thiefy goodness is palpable. That's what's happening here. Seeing the water, knowing it's swimmable, seeing the wood, knowing it's attachable, and you think it's about Architecture?
Don't tempt me to pull the "Troll" card on you.

I guess TDS would have worked better with the old lightgem. :p I really think atmosphere is among other things based on both pure adaption and "the superficial". New Horizon for instance included old SFX in the Minimalist Project.
I don't necessarily mean this as criticism per se but I'd like people to be aware of how their opinion is formed. When the Child of Karras started this project with the re-creation of the SQ I really asked him to release it in some form to catch positive reactions about the architecture by people who whinged about that of TDS - and I don't think this was far-fetched. That's what I learned about the T2X-had-a-better-story-than-TDS Thief community. Yes of course there are pretty rope arrow beams etc. and of course I don't expand this assumption over all of it, but I think I have a point.
Oh, I don't care much about your Troll card when I remember the last people you wrote off that way as soon as they didn't accept your framework of what is allowed in thinking about Thief. I'm a little priggish, too, as that I could think I got it all wrong.
