My trusty crusty old craptop is showing some signs that is about to take a permanent nap. I just ran into an old workmate, and he tells me they have just updated a few of their PC's. Being an all-around good guy, he offered me my old machine if I would like it. It has a new 1TB seagate with Win 10, if I remember correctly the MB is a MSI. I know it has an AMD A10 8850 CPU (3.9 ghz) and a weird Radeon R5 330 2 GB DDR3 GPU (it has an actual card, but the cpu has integrated graphics almost like a laptop - the card seems to just supplement the integrated graphics) It has 16 GB of DDR3-1600 ram (I am sure of this, I installed it, and just dug out the packaging for it)
My question is, will it handle TDM? The processor and ram should be fine, but can anyone offer an opinion on that video card? (I have a couple of spare HD's and a legal version of Win 7, so screw Win 10)
Any help would be greatly appreciated, If someone could reassure me about the graphics, I plan on offering them a couple hundred bucks and buy them all lunch on Monday or Tuesday.
P.S. This would (hopefully) just be a temporary rig, I know it's crap, but all I care about now is if it will allow me to play TDM missions, so I can save a few dollars for some medical bills I need to cover. On a positive note, I am going to splurge on a new ASUS VP228H 21.5" monitor on Monday, 'cause sale price! Thanks!

sounds more like a r5 230. this is lowest tier, cheapest and slowest amd has to offer at the moment. should run TDM, but be ready for not so great performance and you can probably forget about FSAA and stuff like that.
and yes, it should cooperate with the integrated gpu to squeeze out a bit more fps, but don't expect much.

TDM isn't all that GPU/CPU intensive of a game. Though it's been improved considerably over the years, it's still very much a Doom 3 based game, and still has roughly the same requirements. Though you might have to turn off a couple of the fancier features, it wouldn't surprise me if a relatively recent low end card managed to push it at 60FPS native resolution.
To test this out, I'm gonna fire it up on my CoreM SP4, which has an integrated Intel GPU in it. If I can run it on that fairly well, you won't have any problems.
edit: Just tested it on the SP. I had to bump the resolution down to 1280x800, and turn off AA, but I was pushing at least 30FPS while playing one of the Penny Dreadful missions. If I can run it that well on purely mobile hardware that prioritizes temperature and battery above all else, you'll probably be able to run it better on your desktop machine.

Great! Thanks a lot for the help, I was hoping it would run at least as well as my laptop. Sounds like it will get me through a couple of months without shelling out a ton of money. I'm pretty sure the MB in my laptop is going to give out, and without internet shopping for a replacement kinda sucks. This will at least insure I can stay connected, and play some FM's. (and lurk at ttlg) Thanks again for your advice.

Update: ended up with a FX4300 on a pos Gigabyte GA-78LMT-S2 board with an equally pos MSI GTX 720 1gb (passive cooled) along with 4gb ram. PD3 runs like a champ at mid-to-high settings! On the hunt for a GTX 1050ti 4gb gpu, and have Evga Nova Gold+ 550psu on order for now. Got back a 15 year old full tower case, with custom swivel mounts for a shoulder strap. (my old CSS travel case! over 620mm of space for an extra-extra long graphics card!) All I need is a new MB, new CPU, some ram, a new GPU, and a SSD or two, and I'll be set! P.S. is it just me, or does Win10 seem like an OS from an smartphone? sigh, I'm going to give it a shot, but I can't see anything about it to give up my WIN7, am I just a Luddite?

Stay with Windows 7 for now.
Give Windows 10 another year or so and let it ripe like fruit.

I'm looking at a tangerine I drew a jack'o'lantern face on for Halloween, it has not ripened very well in just that short time!

I just spent 3 hours taking apart my favorite keyboard and painstakingly cleaning it, and you made me spit-take ginger ale all over it!
Builder preserve me!!!
