I'm currently playing a thief/ mage type character (Dunmer, specialisation stealth for short sword, light armour, acrobatics, marksman etc) and I'm in the mage guild. During the quests you do for the Khajiit downstairs, you are told to plant a fake soul gem in the desk of the amge upstairs- she will be absent, so you ahve an opportunity. So I planted it. At the same tiome, I took all the stuff off her desk (I'm a thief, after all)- which included a grand soul gem containing a winged twilight worth 60, 000 gp, and about a dozen other soul gems of varying degrees of power, but all far more valuable than anything else in the game. And I seem to have got away with it. My crime wasn't reported, i haven't been expelled from the guild, nothing. So is this really possible, or have I found soem horrible bug? I feel like I'm totally cheating, but as far as I can tell I've doen nothing outside the norm, and the game's handed me 100, 000 gp worth of soul gems at level 1! Is this right?!

That's not a bug, but from now on you shouldn't use Galbedir for any enchantments since she will think you stole the soulgem from her even if you are using a soulgem you found or bought legally. Also all guards will think all soulgems you have are stolen and thus they will confiscate them if they catch you and you either pay the fine or spend time in jail.

i hate to braek it to you but 60k isnt the most expensive thing in the game. i have whole rooms of stuff worth 60k and above and i have rooms of stuff valued at 100k to 200k. and i am on xbox so i cant cheat in the way of making plugins to make the stuff so valuable;)

and lets not forget that you still have to get other items to use the Creeper properly.

That's one of the great things about the game: You can find items worth thousands of gp, but to actually get the money you have to find somebody who can buy them. And since Creeper with his 5000 gp is the 'richest' trader in the game (so far I haven't read of any better merchant), you'll have to find other less valuable items and do a lot of item juggling and sleeping according to get the gold. Just to name an example, I found a piece of armor that's worth 160,000 gp, but there's no hope of selling that thing any time soon.
So by stealing those soul gems, you didn't break any of the game's mechanics. I guess the developers wanted us to realize quite early in the game that the most valuable item isn't always the most useful one.

Side note: the UESP has a literal ton of info on Morrowind (and other games in the series). There is a merchants page, a trainers and master trainers page, quest walkthroughs, and gobs and gobs of other niftiness.
Find it <a href="http://www.m0use.net/~uesp/">here</a>.
