i will hold judgement until i see a complete walk through of game, ofcourse i will not buy the game as there is no physical copy for me to buy.

I'm not understanding the stance people have been taking about physical copies lately. Is it due to a lack of internet connection, or strictly on principle? If so, what principle? Because digital media isn't going anywhere.

Tbh, this sounds awful.

I think this game just isn't for me. I can't stand the rigid movement, the unskippable animations, contextual gameplay and the removal of systemic creativity. It looks like this is going to be the Hitman: Absolution for the Thief series.

So I guess no one else read the first couple sentences of the IGN preview?
Quote:
Garrett is a terrible thief. Invariably, each of his big jobs ends with the “Master Thief” getting caught red-handed.
Apparently we can look forward to a plethora of escape sequences, and we now know that all of the major missions will end with the worst bits the game has to offer.

From what I've seen, it seems like the devs at EM spent a lot more time trying to fashion this game to be more like an update to Deadly Shadows than the first two games. I'm having a hard time seeing much of the originals shining through in this. Doesn't really look or feel like Thief to me...just seems like a clone of some sort.

The shroud looks less intolerable now that its intensity has been reduced. However, I cannot stand that swiping effect. It's super distracting. If it budged a few inches during a few frames rather than lunging forward for an eternity, it would be a lot better.
Everything else about the gameplay sounds really shitty. It seems like it's doing everything TDS did and took the simplification further. Now we don't even get good writing or voice acting. Forget this whole thing.

My expectations weren't that high, so nothing mentioned seems surprising.
The two things I like that are still coming through are that (1) you can turn off all the UI, which is the first thing I'd do and more than anything would probably make it playable to me, and (2) that there's an open city you can explore.
There was one reviewer talking about the most fun part of the game for him was just not having any UI and walking around the open world without any direction looking for interesting things and secrets, and I think that's the part that would be fun for me too, away from too many mini-games or overly-planned "puzzle" rooms you get in the missions.
On that last point, the reviewer claimed there was still a half dozen ways through missions even with the "puzzle" style of design, which might mitigate things a little if that's true, but like others here I generally don't like that style.
The mention that there are some super-AI like captains, and some interplay between the captains & footmen -- he inspires the footmen to be better; if he goes down the footmen get demoralized, that kind of thing -- sounded interesting and is something I'd be curious to see in action.

The difficulty customisation looks, err, insane. They really took that on board!
Now I'm a little bit excited.
