Thanks for posting these, but most of the trunkated links don't work for me at least.

OK, should all be working now, not sure what happened there.
I'll say the Strategy Informer is one of the best previews, but it also walks you through the first 4-5 levels of the game, so consider yourself warned.

Thanks for all that work!
Since you've obviously been through them, are there any better video links than the IGN one? It stops at about 30 secs and is endlessly 'catching up'.
Edit. Seems to be OK and working properly now. Probably my internet which is being a bit iffy tonight. I expect that the couple of hundred people who live where I do, are also trying to see them.

I only skimmed through that Strategy Informer preview, but it's very positive so it makes me feel at least little more optimistic about the new Thief.
Some of the other previews are far more negative, but none of the reviews totally trash the game, and in general they seem to be more positive than negative. I didn't have time to read them all yet though.

I've only been able to skim a portion of them so far, most are positive (typical for previews), but there is definitely some negative stuff in there as well. Some stuff is downright harsh - one article used the heading "The Writing is Awful" and another flat out said "the game is boring." I need to read some more, but the Strategy Informer struck me as the best article and got me the most optimistic for the game.

@Brethren
I think thats the tv stuff one. He also said that the city and its inhabitants make no sense and that there is no style that defines it. Ha ha ha. Reminds me of the comment from a supposed Thief fan at the bottom of the strategy informer review, complaining that he has doubts about this new one because of the "weird victorian england stuff". Ha ha ha.

I'd love to read some of these reviews and watch some gameplay stuff, but I'd really like to avoid major spoilers...I already heard more about the obligatory horror level than I wanted.
Can anyone recommend some "safe" reviews and vids?

I have not gotten through all of them, but I started at the bottom, and Eurogamer seems much more negative than the others. It mentions how hard it is to actually be noisy, how intrusive the music is, how guards are oblivious to something happening in the next room, how small the areas feel, how linear they feel, etc. After that, the four or five previews above seem more positive and make no mention of these things. So what's the truth?
This stood out to me: (Press Start Australia)
"Previous instalments of Thief we were told were quite limited in what options you could approach to complete your objective. The games were much more constrictive and strict with the player, forcing them to constantly stay hidden, never providing proper options for people who wanted a more action oriented or more in-your-face kind of gameplay, the new Thief is here to amend that."
I think it's telling that the company reps, whoever they were, described the previous games as limited and restrictive.

Jesus Christ. It's a stealth game, what did they expect?
Not everything has to be play-what-you-want, and nobody expects you to sneak around in Call of Duty (except where the script calls for it of course.)
