Want to see a weird ending? Look at Suicide Kings. I was surprised that they ended that movie the way they did. Didn't say I didn't like it, but it was unexpected.

What's post-apocalyptic about Suicide Kings? OK movie, would've been shit if it didn't have Christopher Walken in it (which could be said about many films), although Jay Mohr wasn't too bad...but I don't remember an apocalypse.
The Postman wasn't too bad, although it got overly schocky at parts. Better than Waterworld in any case.
I'll definitely have to check out Threads. I hope my local rental place has it. They've got a great collection of obscure and foreign (British is foreign, right?) stuff. I've only stumped them once (I Woke up Early the Day I Died) looking for obscure shit.

I love you. Will you have my children?

Gattica is always cool. If you are the type that considers its setting to be 'post apocalyptic'

I believe you mean 'dystopian' since there's really not much of post-apocalyptic elements in Gattaca.

'Les temps du loupe' is a great one, it is never explained what actually happened, but there are great food shortages and western civilisation ist kaput, and humanity is at it's finest dealing with it. I am sure somebody must have recommended Threads by now, the best movie I never want to see again.

I started to read that link and it jarred a nightmare from my head. I remember as a kid watching "(
http://us.imdb.com/title/tt0085404/#comment) The Day After" and having nightmares about it.
It started out as the typical small town friday night football game in Kansas. Then you saw the missles passing over head. The problem was, I lived in a town very similar to the one in the movie. Small midwest town, surrounded by corn fields. And I remember EVERYONE talking about it the next day. That movie had a huge impact on alot of people at the time.

Sorry for resurrecting this thread, but I felt that creating a new one would be a waste.
The movie was indeed Threads, which I found on ebay for about $9. Unfortunately, the night I watched it I was stoned and the friend I was viewing it with refused to take it seriously (because the people in it were english--he's a rather, um, 'nationalist' type).
I'll hopefully have the chance to watch again sometime soon, but from what I can remember it was an excellent movie. Not quite as graphic as I imagined it to be, but then if no one had told me of its explicit nature I would have been much less prepared for it.
Just wanted to share my thoughts of the movie.

Nonsense! That was a fabulous ending. :D
Anyway, I'm quite certain it was just the dog that did the
eating.
I believe that you are indeed correct. Though it was awhile ago (years), but I thought that was one of the hard-core realism that made this so ... engaging and challenging at the same time.
@ Somnus: Thanks for the Threads update. I'll have to look for this one :thumb:
