My game for the Idle Thumbs Winter Wizard Jam, which actually ended a couple weeks ago. I only had a beta version done by submission time, but I wanted to finish the full version in time for Christmas. Had a lot of trouble with bugs right up until final playtesting earlier this evening, but now I *THINK* it all works! Still, let me know if you run into any issues.
Merry Christmas!

AKA searching for a fireplace.
Cool little game.

I love this and actually had a big grin on my face while playing, especially when I found a particularly good spot for jumping (on the other side of the lake (which also had other stuff to find)) and spent quite some time there trying to jump as high as possible (I really liked the feeling when everything went quiet while flying through the air). :D The whole game felt greatly improved compared to the previous version: being able to switch perspective is a great addition, the maximum speed seems to have been increased, I had great fun with the old man's challenge (250 seconds, by the way -- or, well, somewhere between 248 and 252, but I forgot to check the exact time just before I crossed the finish line, and then it was gone (maybe present the time as I receive my prize, and also letting my try the challenge track again (outside of the contest) would have been nice)) etc...
Two issues:
- My first try I stayed in the area around my cabin going back and forth trying out the controls, but then the game suddenly ended (I'm guessing it was because I was detected as "returning" to the cabin, although I hadn't really been away). The second try I made sure to leave the cabin area, and could continue playing (I think I played somewhere around 2 hours).
- The item that got added to my inventory after beating the old man's challenge was partly rendered outside the inventory area and it felt like the icon(?) was meant to be a lot smaller.
I wonder if there are more things to discover that I missed!? I might try again later.
Edit:
It really is a good one.

There are in total 3 "missions" to do out there. I've probably made them too hard to find though, if you played for 2 hours and only found 1, qolelis. Will patch the game after Christmas and make them stand out more. Also good note about presenting the score at the end of the race. That should be doable quite easily!
Thanks for playing, qolelis and dema. :)

I finally took the time to play this again and this time I found all three missions and completed them, although it took me quite some time, almost 4 hours, because I got really lost. I must have gotten snowblind or something, because after a while everything started to look exactly the same and I kept going around in circles. Not to the fault of the game, though, because after reaching the bridge for the third time I suddenly realized I was on the wrong side of it when trying to get back to my cabin and end the game.
Even if I got lost I still had a blast. My absolute favourite was the jumping (the abrupt silence when flying through the air literally gave me the chills every time) and the sense of speed both in 1st and 3rd person. The challenge mission was my favourite of the three (it had a great track too) and I could easily have done that a lot more (I also shaved off a few seconds (from 250 to 235)). The treasure hunt was my least favourite, because I just couldn't find the third spot (with the abandoned campsite being the first), so after a while I gave up and just had fun jumping and speeding until I suddenly stumbled on a snowy hill that looked exactly like the one in the drawing, so then I could finally finish that mission too. By the way, those skates looked very similar to a pair I had as a kid.
The inventory isn't the most beautiful thing ever, but it got the job done. I had some flickering of the mountains in 1st person (especially when gaining speed I think). Maybe add a few (more obvious) landmarks for people like me who got lost!?
Edit:
I did find the starting points for the missions I missed the first time I played (2 weeks ago), but somehow I missed the message to press enter.

Good stuff, qolelis! :)
I have a long list of features I wanna include in the next patch, and it looks like I might finally have a chance to get around to it this weekend. Planning to add suspenders and a scarf for the player character, lighting improvements, making the interactive points clearer, and adding more trees and detail to the world.

Thanks. Here's a behind-the-scenes-tidbit. My main inspiration for the opening was Johnny Cash's "Christmas as I knew it". :)
