Oscar Peterson left us today, aged 82. A great man and pianist.
Jazz on.

Incredibly, I had just finished practicing an Oscar Peterson tune shortly before hearing the news (Days of Wine and Roses, to be exact). A giant has left the stage. We've been listening to his music today. On the bright side, if you can call it that, he lived very long and fulfilled life.
For those that don't know, he was a very influential jazz pianist that until today was one of the few remaining great masters of jazz's golden age.

In terms of pure piano technique, I think he was second only to Art Tatum.
But in the end, it was all about swinging -- swing on, Oscar!!! R.I.P.
