for those who remain on edge, yes, we were still good friends after that terrible episode

indeed, i remember recording halloween 2 at about 2am or something for a friend and he was like, "man this movie sucked"
Weird. I really enjoyed that one. Hell even Halloween 3 I really enjoyed, even though Michael Myers wasn't it. Very much like that Friday the 13th movie, that had a different person with the mask on.

Also it might be hard to fathom but some people like Alien 3. ;) I'll defend this movie any time.

See if it hadn't followed one of the greatest movies of all time, and hadn't killed off all but one of the survivors I'd have been fine with it. But it did, and I'll forever be sad over it.
It's not a bad movie at all. It just could have been so much better.

Alien 3 does the job as a
sequel to Alien better than Aliens. Aliens is still a better
movie than Alien 3, it's just not as good a
sequel to Alien (which is the best movie in the franchise).

I'd still consider it an asset that the Alien films all look and feel very different, and they do so pretty much by design. Doesn't mean it always worked, but I like that the films aren't just the same thing over and over again.

Those are some pretty egregious choices, henke! I appreciated Golden Eye back in the day as silly camp, but erasing Alien... oh, I dunno.
Anyway, probably none of that beat out the time I rooted around in the parents' wardrobe and found an unlabelled tape on which I subsequently recorded an episode of V that featured a woman giving birth to an alien baby.
Turned out I'd recorded over dad's softcore collection, as I found out after the end credits in my subsequent re-view. I silently put the tape back where I found it. To this day I think about the time my folks were probably trying to get in the mood, and my mom arching her eyebrow at dad's outré taste in mood-setting.
Truly, everyone lost something that day.

I still have a box of Beta tapes in my basement and a semi-working Super Beta Hi-Fi deck from 1985. I took a look at what I had and it's mostly PBS science and nature shows. I guess I was a real geek. The only two movies I kept were Caddyshack and Going Berserk. The latter was an absurd comedy starring John Candy and some fellow SCTV cast members. I thought it was hilarious when I was 14 or 15 but it makes me feel embarrassed to watch now. Caddyshack still holds up pretty well though.

Am I the only one who is going to admit to having, somewhere, a VHS of - ahem - "sexy scenes", recorded from late night television?

I would have if I had reliable access to HBO and Cinemax. I had to wait for the stars to align just right so that those channels would come through clearly.
Though the one time my parents subscribed to HBO, I did record an episode of Real Sex. Unfortunately for me, it was a pretty lame one, mostly about a bunch of old people who get together to group masturbate in a warehouse or something. It wasn't sexy in the least.
