Visiting my folks for the weekend, looking at shelves of old VHS tapes and feeling nostalgic.

Of course, in 80/90's Finland there was a recession at the time, and we didn't have a lot of money to spend on VHS casettes, so I often ended up recording over the same casette 4-5 times. Looking at the scratched-out titles I wonder if I made the right choices.

Smokey & The Bandit, Naked Gun 3, Throw Momma off the Train,
Fargo - Some real classics here! Fargo is amazing, but I kinda wish I'd kept Throw Momma off the Train. Haven't seen it in ages, wonder if it holds up.
Dave, Dirty Harry,
The Warriors - Dave! Oh man, that was a fun movie. Warriors is definitely the keeper tho.
Police Academy 2, Tombstone,
Coal Miner's Daughter - now hold up, I'm pretty sure I only became a Loretta Lynn fan after her 2004 album "Van Lear Rose", so it's quite possible the last recording was done as recently as 15 years ago! Sheesh, get with the times, 2004 henke.
Groundhog Day, Animal House,
Get ShortyBlade Runner, Falling Down,
Leon - Yeah I made the right choice here.
Darkman 3,
Reckless Kelly - Hey, Arnold Voslo's pretty good, but he ain't no Yahoo Serious.
Freejack, Kelly's Heroes, Con Air,
Taxi DriverSix Days Seven Nights, True Romance,
North by NorthwestCandyman, Alien 3,
Pulp FictionInline Image:
https://www.dropbox.com/s/vrjbybx0iccr7x4/vhstapes03.jpg?dl=1Under Siege, Star Trek Generations, Cliffhanger, Pale Rider,
The Thing - what a bunch of DUDE MOVIES, but it ended on the ultimate dude movie.
Mrs. Doubtfire, Conan,
True LiesBeverley Hills Cop 3, Alien, Money Train, Dick Tracey,
Golden EyeSuper Mario Bros, Robocop 3, Braveheart, Meaning of Life,
Seven Samurai... or TimecopSilverado, 3 Amigos, The Shining, Dirty Shame,
As Good As It Gets -not sure if this is
actually as good as it gets. ¬_¬
Beetlejuice, Red Dwarf, Waterworld,
Hudson Hawk - Man, I love Hudson Hawk. Definitely the right choice.
Lethal Weapon 3, Friends, Ford Fairlane,
Fierce Creatures - can't believe I taped over Ford Fairlane, I loved that piece of crap movie.
Shaft, The Craft, Twister,
Naked Gun 2What's the verdict, ttlgers? Did I make the right choices or do we need to call Timecop and have him send childhood me to movie-jail?

The Thing is a classic, sure, but Under Siege had Erika Eleniak's naked boobs. Why would you tape over that?

Red Dwarf would have been the right choice.

Why you'd want Alien 3. That movie was such a major disappointment.

Reckless Kelly hahah my lord I had totally forgotten about that, ah that was an odd time in Australian cinema.
henke on 14/7/2019 at 12:44
Yeah I loved both that and Young Einstein back then. Apparently Yahoo only ever made a 3rd movie after that, 2000's Mr. Accident, haven't seen it.

Well I didn't know that when I hit record on the VCR. In the pre-internet era it was much harder to know if something was gonna be worth watching, let alone recording. Every time you decided to record over a previous movie with a new one it was a gamble! Those truly were DAYS OF DANGER! :|

I punched him in the face and stole his mothers pearl necklace.
