Hmm. Just SE of
Gnisis (just trying out the spoiler tags ^_^ )
I found a tomb I have never been to before. Inside, I found a couple of locked doors and an altar which had on top of it an urn. Now I'm speaking like Yoda again. Uh, where was I? Oh yeah; it said something about being D. Bryant's ashes, but it was trapped so I figured it contained some useful stuff...I ran back to town and bought a couple of probes, went back, and disarmed the trap.
The urn contained a pretty good ring (at least for me, being at lvl. 2 and all) and...that's it. But, as you can probably tell, D. Bryant is not exactly a common name on Vvardenfell, so I was just wondering if any of you know who he/she is? Is it one of the developers or is it supposed to be the ashes of Bryant from Blade Runner (now I'm just being silly, actually I see no connection whatsoever except for the name) or what?
And the other thing is basically a question I haven't found the answer to simply because I'm way too lazy to look thorugh 578439 lousily laid out Morrowind sites...
What are the different levels of advancement for the Mages Guild and Great House Telvanni? I have never bothered to advance much in either guilds or houses before, but I think I will this time, even though my character is not the mage type I have chosen these affiliations for now.
A quick pointer to a site containing the info would be much appreciated ^_^

oh, and another thing. doesn't it seem strange to you that there are only seven (?) or so silt striders on the whole island, and all are in captivity?
would it not be nice to actually see a silt strider walk around on the island, maybe they live in flocks or maybe they are solitary creatures...or maybe the island just isn't big enough for more than those who are in captivity?
I haven't given this much thought (it only just occured to me when I flew in over Balmora, saw the strider, flew towards the Mages guild and the game did a CTD ;_; ) but I think I shall look to see if anyone has already made such a mod.
I gotta start looking into the CS some day.

For your first question:
The Ashes of D. Bryant were probably like Lord Brinne's Ashes and the Bone of Pop-Je. They aren't important though, so don't worry. Do with them what you wish!
I'm too lazy to answer your question about the Mages Guild and the Telvanni. Heh. But try (

There's a MOD out there that adds Silt Striders to the wild. I don't think they move though, and you probably can't attack them either, just like the ones in town. But still, you get wild Silt Striders. Heh heh.
This belongs in the spoiler forum :p

I didn't see a spoiler forum since I entered through the ttlg.com main page but now I know ^_^

Actually, I think there are a few dead striders in the Ashlands...
It would have been cool if the the striders would move around a bit (having to wait for them to show up, etc).... but I don't think the Morrowind engine is quite that Dynamic.

First off, I may not know Lord Brinne well but I can tell you he has to be the most recognized paladin-esque figure. His name has made its way into many games... just check the graveyards from Deus Ex, or Might and Magic 8 he has is own full tomb donated to him, then Morrowind gives him credit. He was an Roleplaying God!
Shame I didn't know him well. :erg:

I always make it one of my first priorities to track down at least 2 of the "special" rings when I start a new game. I'd list them all, but i've only gone and uninstalled Morrowind from this PC, and can't be arsed to boot up the other one.
Anyway, there are several good rings - all similar looking (each one unique) but with different colours. IMO, the Lord Brinne one is the best - Willpower and Intelligence boost IIRC. Good for Mages at least. Then there's a Ring Of Agility somewhere on the east coast I think - in a special bandit's cave at the top of a large pillar. Which is also where you get a nifty pair of gloves from this guy that you rescue... but I digress. :p
Yes. There are nice rings. I'll dig out more info when I can.

What'd I do? *sniff*
And there are a lot of people who are good at RPG's. How did Brinne get so important? I've never heard of him before. Meh.

The place is Nammu, somewhere in the Grasslands.

Ring Of The Wind sounds about right - I recognise the name "Nammu" as well. I do that a lot in MW - stumble across quest-relevant areas that I really shouldn't. But ain't that the beauty of the game?
Another one like this is Marara's Ring. Part of a Fighter's Guild quest, this is a damn good ring to have. It's purple as well. :D
