ok. only 2 problems really. the first one isn't a big deal. the second one gets damn annoying.
1. Videos aren't working. I've tried all 3 solutions given in the FAQ but no success. The first 2 appear to work (as in it carries out the commands etc..) while the third one says it cant find the file / application. I guess technical specs are needed to give help for this one so here goes
Windows Vista Home Premium - OS
AMD Athlon Dual Core QL-60 - Processor
2 GB Ram
NVidia Geforce 8200M G - Graphics Card
If you need more info just ask.
2. For some reason the alt key stops working during a mission. I've checked bindings etc.. and it is still there, but just doesn't work at points during a mission. So instead of leaning forward to hit some poor unsuspecting guard (alt+w) i instead walk forward right into his sword. Anyone know what might be causing this?
Thanks in advance

The indeo codec needs to be installed/re-installed.

I've already tried both the codec that came on the CD and also the one linked to in the FAQ. Neither of them appear to work (they do install, just don't let me see the videos). If i go to the various movies, i can open and play them with media player, but all i get is sound, no picture. Any ideas.
Oh and i found out that CAPSLOCK was what was stopping the alt key from working.

It still sounds like the codec isnt installed correctly, got to the following link and download and install this codec pack - (

ok, i've tried those codecs (k-Lite 4.9.5), but still no joy. Now, they will no longer play in Media Player (v.11), but will play in the version of media player (classic) that came with the codec pack (still sound only, no video).
Also, after reading another thread which said that you had to run Thief2 as admin to get videos to work, well, if i do this and then try to run the intro or start a new mission etc.., i get a CTD saying Thief2 has stopped working).
I've since installed T2X to see if the videos for that worked correctly, and they seem to be relatively ok (a small bit of "stuttering??", sorry only word i can think of to describe it, just occassional pauses during the playing of the video).
So, i guess it is a Codec issue, just not sure why the suggested fixes don't work for my system.

You have to run the games as an administrator to get the movies to play in Vista (and probably Windows 7).
