Having recently just went through and played Thief Gold with the Necro Age.I started Thief 2 with the Necro Age but I noticed some problems I never had before.
I playing Thief 2 from a GOG install updated with latest version of Taffer Patcher.
1.I've noticed parts where game noticeably slows down,I have never had this problem before,Thief Gold with Necro age ran like butter and my PC is not so bad that I can't run Thief 2 with any enhancements.
2.For some reason I cannot enable EAX even though I am using New Dark and I have Open AL installed.
What's going on and how do I fix it.

After doing a clean reinstall of both Thief Gold and Thief 2 and finished updating both games.I did a test and Thief 2 doesn't seem to have have the slight slowdown anymore but now I am not sure if it was even there,maybe I just thought it was running a little slower but it wasn't.Oh great now I am going crazy.Well anyways that's not an issue anymore.But quick question why can't I enable EAX anymore,I am using Newdark and I have Open AL install.Was EAX Support through Open Al Removed from newer versions of New Dark?

I know about but it won't let let me set it as open al in the options it only allows for on or off,which is weird because I have Open Al installed.

You haven't mentioned which version of Windows you're using, so I will assume it isn't XP. You need to use ALchemy to enable EAX on Windows Vista and up.
There are guides available, but pretty much go to program files\Creative\ALchemy and copy dsound.dll to the folder with Thief2.exe in it.
you may also need a dsound.ini in that same folder:
; Buffers <-- # of buffers to use (default is 4)
Buffers=4
; Duration <-- buffer duration (default is 25)
Duration=20
; MaxVoiceCount <-- maximum number of voices to support (default is 128)
MaxVoiceCount=128
; DisableDirectMusic <-- disable DirectMusic support (default is False)
DisableDirectMusic=0
