You might buy it if your lot had actually won some wars within living memory.
Although the fact that they didn't means I am actually alive and here to "make love, not war" myself!

And secondly, cheap shot or not, I was offended that you can sit there and tell us all what a terrible thing war is when you more than anyone should understand how necessary it is.
Jesus wept, StD!
You really went a tad too far this time.
You need a serious time out.

No I think he was simply proving his point via example. People like STD, who obviously deserve to be raped by spiked metal dildos -- not for his views particularly but for the way that he can only express them or simply exist at all by being an utter cunt -- prove that we will always have a place for violence. :ebil:

I really don't think there is that much wrong with what he said. Or am I mis-interpreting? 'Cause I think he means that war against Nazi Germany was necessary, in which case I agree and I'd hope you would too.

People like STD .....prove that we will always have a place for violence.
Which is exceedingly sad because it means that there will always be people like my mom who as a child had to help her teachers dig out the bodies of her schoolmates from the rubble of their school air raid shelter (in Germany).
Or like my dad, who even though he was born in the States, dreaded dropping the bombs from his plane and vomited during every attack because he still had relatives in Germany. He always said the draft was a bitch.
So very, very sad.
P.S. The Alchemist was right S.E.; it wasn't so much what StD said - it was the way he said it.

Oh please. Because I say war is sometimes a necessity I'm a neocon? Or are you basing this on something else? Perhaps I inadvertently advocated nuking Iran in another thread, or maybe I accidentally stated somewhere that we should ban all Muslim immigration?
War will always be necessary because people will always be assholes. It's nice to utter trite, hackneyed phrases like "make love, not war" but deep down nobody can seriously believe that shit - especially those people from countries who elected odious regimes that could only be removed by war. That doesn't make me a neocon, just a realist.
Oh dear god stronts, I can say I honestly try to understand your opinion, I really freaking do. But I honestly do not get how you can think you got everything dead on in life, and still be able to present your opinion in such a dickish and idiotic nature. In what part did "love" incite war on SO many occasions? Please, list some off. If you can go about thinking that not one person beleives that there should be war regularly? Are you saying Hitler became leader of Germany because they just wanted to kill things? They desired to cause death and destruction? The way you just write off all beings as assholes the more you managed to freaking prove yourself one.

Give me strength.
I won't be told by people whose grandparents would have gassed me as soon as look at me that war is a bad thing.
War is why I am here, why I am alive, why I was even born in the first place, why I am
free to love and be loved.
You either get that or you don't. My guess it that people who have never had to confront the painful reality that they could have been murdered simply for who they are are less likely to get it.

But Nazi Germany did not
have to invade Poland. The motto 'make love not war' does make sense when it is a global concept.

You are very close to being a racist.

Perhaps SD thinks german children sit around old people saying:
"Grandpa, tell me again how you gassed people during WWII".
