Possibly an allusion to the stock market exchange where a bull market is a prolonged period of time when prices are rising in a financial market faster than their historical average, in contrast to a bear market which is a prolonged period of time when prices are falling.

I think you've missed a vital point that this illustration makes, whether intentional or not: love is a cause of war (and one could argue, the only cause?).
