I can't remember where I read it, but some magazine (German, I think) did an almost-review of the latest version of the game, and they didn't like it. They felt that very little had been improved compared to STALKER, and some things had changed for the worse. They would've given that version a score in the 60s (out of 100).
Then again, without knowing whether/how they liked the first game, it's difficult to judge their criticism.

Although I don't like the sound of some changes listed for Clear Sky, I will give them a chance.

"Clear Sky is still a dog-eared lovable scamp of a game, peppered with almost endearing glitches."
That's what I like to hear. Deus Ex's voice acting, especially in Hong Kong? Better voice acting would've made it much less charming. Everything is a little more personal when you can see it's flaws.

+1. I think it jsut gives it a bit of..personality, i think that's the word I'm looking for. Especially when it comes from a dev team like GSC, who are doing it for the love of us gamers, not souless evil corporations (YES I'M LOOKING AT YOU EA:mad:   )

They eventually grow up from their immature, idealistic "for gamers by gamers" philosophy like all others before them.

So is Clear Sky going to feature more voice acting and less impenetrable walls o' text for the main body of exposition? Because it's probably my main irk in the original's execution.
Rogue Keeper on 19/8/2008 at 10:23
I wouldn't mind walls of text only if they were about something interesting!
But most stalkers just have their boring stories about their "dangerous" trips... and it's not very well written in the first place.
Thirith on 19/8/2008 at 10:25
I think it's exactly that. Badly written text is usually too long and in dire need of tightening. Well written text won't *feel* long unless you don't like reading to begin with. I never minded the long passages of text in Planescape Torment, for instance.

Answer the question guys.

Don't count on it.
