A bit of a fix... - by Dinadan

Alright, I have a bit of a problem... I recently got back my copy of DX:IW from a friend who lent it to a friend who... it's a long story- anyway it's back in my possession. The snag is the second disc is rather scratched so it doesn't read properly. Through sheer power of the mind I was able to get it to install on my new comp. and start up. However as soon as I boarded the elevator to go talk to nassif behind her annoying glass it needed to load. Well the disc is so scartched that it won't register in the time the game supplies and then I get a message saying it can't verify the disk (different spelling, woah) so it crashes. Any suggestions as to what I can do?
P.S. I think the scratching corrupted the data itself because when i tried copying the files to my driving and then changing the read from drive e: to c: but it was to no avail :erg:

You could try burning an image of the disc, though this has never worked for me for one scratched up as bad as that. I'd start looking for dirt-cheap copies.

Yay, yes, buy it again! That's the solution!
Ignoring Unstoppable here, if you got it to install completely, you might want to apply a no-CD crack to your game, so you can play it without the CD. I'll send you a PM.

Edit: actually, if the data is truly corrupted, you are probably shit out of luck, short of buying a new copy.

Now burn the entire directory onto a disk.
You'll thank me later.
