It seems congress has introduced a bill to curb (
http://www.opencongress.org/bill/111-h1966/text) cyberbullying
Quote:
Whoever transmits in interstate or foreign commerce any communication, with the intent to coerce, intimidate, harass, or cause substantial emotional distress to a person, using electronic means to support severe, repeated, and hostile behavior, shall be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than two years, or both. [This is Sec.3 Sec 881 (a) of the bill]

CommChat is registered to a small weaving company on the south shore of Big Stank near the Spidermelon Patch. We already passed a bill that caused Congress to shut up.

So the gist of it is that angry IRL men are angry at angry Internet men and are therefore trying to ban rude behavi any and all form of communication on the Internet?
I noticed in the "Top Rated Comments" section on the right that a couple were stating the bill to be unconstitutional as a result of violating the 1st Amendment. Would any US law dudes care to venture an opinion on that?

No, it's because some horrible cunt of an adult woman made a fake myspace account and used it to torment a 13 year old girl into killing herself and then they tried to convict her under a law that didn't really apply and when it got tossed out because it didn't apply they decided they had to have a way to punish these acts in the future and this is why we can't have nice things.

Yeah, I remember that scandal. Fucked up shit, it's hard to picture a supposedly mature woman taking part in stuff like that.
As far as lawmaking goes, they had a parallel in the UK as well: some sick fuck who killed a woman as part of some sort of BDSM practice - though I don't know if they clarified whether it was consensual or not - was found in possession of some BDSM type pornography along the same lines, and then they passed a law criminalising possession of such pr0ns. And a couple of other pr0ns while they were at it, iirc.
Anyway, you passed the Bar recently, any views on whether this bill to ban Internet forums is constitutional or not?

so basically we're punishing everybody just to get at one bitch?
As the old saying goes, "It takes one bad apple to ruin the bunch." Can't take the heat, get out of the kitchen. Take it with a grain of salt, you'll live longer.
