I'm not sure that anyone really likes beer when they 1st start drinking it. I certainly didnt but fourtunately I grew out of that phase!
For me beer is greatly improved by context as well...a beer after a long weeks work, or on a summers day, or while watching your favourite sports team etc tends to hit the spot to a much greater extent.
Also, avoid cans whilst learning to like it. Beer in a can never tastes as good as from a bottle/tap.

Wow I didn't realise anyone esle had heard of okanagan springs! My family lives like a half hour away from the brewery. Although their 1516 is a bit thin, I'm a fan of the pale ale. It's cheap as well, for a good brew.
I actually like the 1516; it's good if you're planning on drinking a six-pack. The rest are probably better beers, but in smaller doses (while the Porter is a meal and a half). I discovered the beer in the Okanagan and was pleasantly surprised to find a better selection of it back home!
