We call it Stella's Old Twat.
Damn woman, that made me spit Red Stripe all over the screen! :laff:

Another vote for Sierra Nevada as Beer-I-Wish-Was-In-My-Hand right now.
For beginners though, I'm going to take a stab in the dark and suggest Magic Hat's #9 (Lager/Ale? I'm not sure). It's smooth and after a few whorls through your mouth you realize it's actually fruity.
Has anyone tried any of the Clipper City Heavy Seas beers? It's one of those locals for me, but it's pirate-themed, and loaded to the gils with booze. mm

I always thought of Heineken as a pretty safe, standard beer ... not a bad taste, won't get you sick, enough buzz to make it worth the price of admission. And that's what I'll usually get as far as the major beer brands go.

Go to the UK.
Find an independent pub with 6+ real ales on tap.
Sample at least one pint of each.
Repeat until you like beer.

Look up some Dogfish Head if you have not already. I'm across the bay in DE...I'm not familiar with CCHS but I'll keep a look out.

Beer is cheap, but I hate the taste.
Someone tell me how I'm doing it wrongAnswered your own question, there.
I'm predominantly a Guinness man, but I'll drink Boddington's if the bar has it on tap and I need something lighter (though I suspect I'm one of eight Boddington's drinkers in California, so finding it anywhere with a fresh keg is kind of hard). I also like some of the pricier Belgian style ales. I taught myself to drink beer with Trois Pistoles. And everybody should attempt an Old Rasputin Challenge at least once in their life.
Heineken is awful awful swill masquerading as a proper beer, and Newcastle is only slightly better.

Some people swear up and down about this and that beer, but for a simple man, look for the words "Pilsner or Lager." These are generally the most simple forms of beer without all the bells and whistles. If you can find Provo Girl, I'd highly recommend that. It's made at a brewery in Salt Lake City.
Or Blue Sky Pilsner. It's also made at a brewery in Salt Lake City. I've seen these beers exported to all the western states. Seattle should be one of their good spots.

I'm pretty sure it's British, we just stole it (typical)
