Just for comparison purposes, I looked up some numbers. No offense to any other country. I just looked up US counts for this.
9/11 Death Toll 2,973 people
War on Terror 2,974 U.S. military service members killed.
Pearl Harbor Death Toll:
US Navy 2,008 KIA
USMC 109 KIA
US Army 218 KIA
Civilians 68
Total 2,403
Death Toll in World War 2:
US Military 407,300
US Civilian 11,200
D'Arcy you were correct. As of September 3, 2007, more lives were lost in the subsequent actions than in the actual 9/11 attack itself.
Personally, I think that day should be remembered. We should not forget. Whatever you feel about it, I don't think people who die in a surprise attack on Sovereign US soil as they are going about their routine daily lives should be forgotten. And we have gone to far greater lengths in the past than we are now.
2 old sayings and 1 new
Remember the Alamo - contested land, not necessarily US soil, and no suprise.
Remember Pearl Harbor
Remember 9/11

What should they be doing then? Run around like the sky is falling? It's a fucking tape, not exactly the most terrifying object in the world. Media overexposure is a good thing if it has made people less likely to be jerked around by scaremongering and base emotional manipulation.
PS: bin Laden has fuck all to do with Iraq.
congrads captain obvious, that was hardly my point. What should people be doing? well, what would people be doing if they have the identity of some guy who murdered somone, and they know he's in texas? what if he murder 10 people? 2,973 people? does anyone realise that Afghanistan IS the size of Texas???
my point is that the fact that America is obsessed with withdrawling from the middle east IS an example of a nation controlled by the media. There's no rhym or reason, just emotion stirred up by the media.
p.s. - media prevent emotional manipulation? the media IS emotional manipulation

Indeed. I remember Bush's "Mission Accomplished" stunt like it was yesterday.

Fan Missions what? Are you drunk?
And who cares what Bush thinks. What do YOU think? I think it's pretty well internationally recognised that Iraq has and had nothing to do with 9/11 OMG THOSE RAGHEADS THEY ARE ALL THE SAME!!!
Ah, no. The fan missions forum is where I found it and where it still is as far as I can see. Check it out for yourself. Can a thread be in two forums at the same time?
The "Really?!?" was sarcasm. Anyone with half a brain knows that the only connection between Iraq and al Qaida is the Q.

Ain't none of you got a clue about what it's really like to remember 9/11.
Lancer on 11/9/2007 at 16:08
Stitch, I didn't forget them. I specifically apologized for not looking them up. The hijackers don't count. They weren't victims, they chose their fate.
Ulukai on 11/9/2007 at 16:16
Victims of reading a bit too much into the Koran, maybe.
Lancer on 11/9/2007 at 16:19
Lol! Possibly Ulukai.

Far as I'm aware, there was only one person around here who actually saw it live as it happened. Or at least, only one who's ever said so. And I don't recall it being you.
You know perfectly well what I meant.
If I had actually been near ground zero when it happened I would have comitted suicide years ago.
Oh, and anyone who thinks that last statement was melodramatic can kiss my ass. I wouldn't kid about something like that.
