To the crying, whining, sobbing masses of people in this thread: You're pathetic results of media overexposure.

This just in: Only those awake on the day of a disaster/tragedy can have any understanding/opinion on it!
It's your kind of bleeding heart melodrama that has made people sick of it Foubister. We all accept that it was a terrible day but stop brainwashing harping on about it. This statement "To someone in say Rwanda 9/11 doesn't have the same impact for them as their genocide has, just as their genocide doesn't have the same impact on us that 9/11 has" just shows your naivety. Most of those people have little knowledge about 9/11 and at least 1000 times more people died in the Rwandan genocides. 1000 times.
If you know someone personally who died on 9/11 I could accept that it affects you to a large degree. But hey guess what genius no-one is talking about that.

When I see the towers fall,
It cannot be denied that,
As a spectacle,
It is a realization of the mind.
You see;
I'm standing on a mountaintop,
And letting out a scream,
It's the language of the earth,
It is the language of the beasts.
There's no point to look behind us,
We left the corpse behind,
Because flesh is weak and forms break down.
They cannot last forever.

first I havn't seen anyone like that in this thread, and if you want an example of media overexposure: not a single person that I talked to about bin laden releasing a new tape gave me a response more passionate than 'eh, watever'. THATS media overexposure: when america can look the person who killed thousands of fellow Americans in the face, and turn the other way still saying "end this war!".
Thats media overexposure imho

What should they be doing then? Run around like the sky is falling? It's a fucking tape, not exactly the most terrifying object in the world. Media overexposure is a good thing if it has made people less likely to be jerked around by scaremongering and base emotional manipulation.
PS: bin Laden has fuck all to do with Iraq.

All I've taken from this thread is that ellipsis abuse is a terrible, terrible thing.

This is a pretty glib response given it's the main thrust of his post. Maybe you should get less worked up at him and try debating that :)!
I don't agree that that was the main thrust of his post.

PS, getting banned here is quite hard and your post came nowhere near that. As you're new you might not know!
I was thinking more along the enevitable path this thread was going to take than about that one post. I feel very passionately about this subject and will not stay quiet about it as long as people like BEAR spew that kind of drivel. Just because I only recently signed up does not mean I haven't been reading this forum for years.

And it's your kind of heartlessness that will be the ruin of us all. When we stop caring about each other is when it becomes oh so much easier to push the button so to speak.

You mean if you freak out and start being an ass? Nah, you'll last a long time here being that way, don't worry.
