'Patriot Day'- what an obscenity. The people who died that day didn't die because they were patriots, they died because our President was so obsessed with finding a pretext to attack the man who tried to kill his father that he and his administration ignored the blazing neon-illuminated warning signs that Bin Laden was about to launch a major attack on US soil. Many of those who died weren't even Americans. Victim's Day would be a better name. Or maybe even 'Sacrifices' Day', because at this point I'd almost be willing to believe that Bush and Cheney knew the attack was coming and let it proceed to further their agenda. I can't wait for Keith Olbermann's response to Bush's speech tomorrow.

People get killed because of their beliefs, what they are or where they live every day but they cannot come here and whine about it because their houses are propably burned down that didn't have internet connection at first place.
Im not saying that 9 / 11 wasn't horrible, because it was horrible and completely innocent people died. Im just saying that maybe we should try to remember other people too instead of just you.
But Im just the "trash euro prick" that you will most propably call me after saying this.

End of rant. And quite possibly my membership but I've seen this kind of bullshit far too often and said nothing.
That really sealed the melodrama of that post for me, bravo

Truth be told he has a point, but it's hardly presented in an ideal manner. BEAR comes off as cold, rude and irked at the cheapness in which people manipulate events to their benefit at the cost of others or an ideal (in this case the WTC towers being destroyed). I can sympathize with him on that fact. It's good to have a remembrance of tragedy so we're prepared for future tragedies and to prevent such catastrophic events from occurring again as well. However, dwelling and focusing on said tragedies will only bring you down, make you depressed, etc. and nothing good can come from just reliving something that's going to sadden you. I mean, learn from what happened and take the positive from it, not the negative.
This is probably a more mannered way of wording what BEAR said.

Please don't tell me you believe that 9/11 conspiracy garbage. It wasn't some massive conspiracy that had 4 planes hijacked, it was incompetence from politicians and gaping holes in airport security for commercial airliners. I'm sure you'd like to lay the blame on our President who's probably never significantly touched matters of airport security before 9/11/01. Hey, as long as were conspiring, let's include the ATC people operating the towers/approach and departure that day, the police officers in charge of airport security, the engineers and pyrotechnics who analyzed the rubble afterward, the firemen who rescued people and the mayor of NYC who are all in this massive cover-up plot just so the President can use military might that he already had to begin with to invade a country and infiltrate/disable a terrorist cell.

Peace to the victims! :(
Government to hell!
(PS: Not everyone who raises critical questions is necessarily a conspiracy theorist, but... discussions about that are better to be left for the rest 364 days in a year.)

Sounds like you and BEAR should be in group therapy together.

Unfortunately, some crackpots already have included them. Or at least most of them. You'd be simply amazed at the shit that's out there.

Right now I'm more concerned about some of the shit that's in here.
D'Arcy on 11/9/2007 at 09:02
I'm guessing that there were already more american lives lost in the subsequent actions to 9/11 than in the terrorist attacks themselves.

As for how money is being spent since the aftermath. That's a different subject all together and not what the original poster was talking about.
This is a pretty glib response given it's the main thrust of his post. Maybe you should get less worked up at him and try debating that :)
