Ok, for atheists : Australopithecus UGGH smashed the living shit out of Australopithecus ROGG. Poor ROGG. Who cares about him. There was no world wide web back then where other Australopithecuses would mourn about this sad occurence.
Who says you have to be an athiest to appreciate that? :p There are Christians who believe in evolution, too.
At any rate, i don't think you have to believe in evolution to enjoy your humor... both yours and fett's post made me chuckle :)

Yes I'm being reminded, quite vividly, of why I avoid CommChat. Some in there seem to just be itching for a fight. I realize now that I've only been feeding their hunger. Well, enough is enough. They can feed on each other for all I care. As far as I'm concerned, this thread is dead.
Ok, I was a bit harsh, I'll admit. I apologise for that.
What I've said still holds true though. I do think that you're just not used to Comm Chat, which can be a harsh place by any forum's standard (those I've visited anyway).
That, however, is what I like about Comm Chat. I know if I post in here with something that is nonsense I'll be corrected, sometimes with a knee to the teeth. As long as you're willing to learn that shouldn't be an issue - and Iiiiiiiii like it. 15 pop points if you can yeah you know the drill

I like how TTLG members are not afraid to make their opinions known.
Like almost everyone else, I agree with BEAR to an extent. The people who suffered deserve some consolation, but the way this event (and the notion that if you do not wave an American flag at its mentioning) is being fed on a daily basis is distressing.
I heartily agree.
It's the flag-waving, 'you're either with or you're against us' bullshit propaganda that gets stuck in my gullet. I'm thoroughly dismayed and disgusted that the tragedy of 9/11 gets used repeatedly as a soapbox for pro-war and retaliation against terrorism (not to mention as a smokescreen to obfuscate the oil rights issue - ohdamn, I mentioned it) and the victims of that day aren't remembered as much as used as ammunition. 9/11 wasn't just an American tragedy; it owned the world that terrible day.
Sometimes the most profound sympathies are conveyed in reverent silence. Would that the media could pick up on that. Though I have sincere and heartfelt sympathy for the victims, their families, and the survivors of 9/11, I am completely fed up with the circus the media creates of this tragedy every year.
I think it's time to take up camping.

Like me! But since prevailently atheist CommChat is quite sensitive to Christian themes, more secular approach is necessary.

I can't say I've ever heard of any portuguese losses on 9/11. And believe me, the portuguese press did try his best during those aftermath hours to find out if there were any portuguese victims. Because, obviously, we would grief a lot more if one of our countrymen had died in the tragedy ¬¬
(given just how many portuguese live in the US, I wouldn't be surprised if one of them was actually a victim of 9/11, but I guess at that time the nationality of the victims was the lesser of my concerns)

I copied the list from:
(

It irritates me when someone infers that 9/11 was a tragedy which was felt most poignantly by Americans alone (yeah; the article was pretty much in-your-face flag-waving (consider the source), but I was more interested in the list of nations which had also lost citizens in the 9/11 tragedy).

That's interesting. What do you believe, that gods role in the evolution of Life was limited to fiddling with the environment? Or do you believe that god had no part in the development of Life at all?
I've always been able to identify most with theists who believe that god set up the universe's initial conditions then sat back to enjoy the consequences.
