I was just pointing out what a sham the whole 4th July thing is. Celebrating freeing yourself is great! Celebrating freeing yourself, and then proceeding to treat other humans as chattel for another 100 years isn't.
Oh for fucks sake you're such an asshat SD. No one posting on this board ACTUALLY OWNED FUCKING SLAVES and I highly doubt anyone here condones it either. The problem is that you can't get your infantile pea brain around the fact that most Americans celebrate 4th of July not because "yup we done beat them thar british and Toby's tied to tha post out back where he belongs" but because in 2007, we like living in America. It's an excuse to shoot fireworks and grill out. But then again, I guess it's difficult for you to grasp the concept of people doing something merely for fun without some DEEP political/social agenda because you're such a sad sack yourself and have never done such things (wacking off doesn't count, no matter how many times a day you do it. Sorry.)
You seem to be able to take the most simple things and make them into a soapbox for yourself to stand on and proclaim how much more enlightened you are than the rest of us (who in this case are somehow responsible for slave treatment 200+ years ago?). Guess what? My grandfather hated "Niggers" as he called them, was a member of the KKK AND I DON'T GIVE A SHIT BECAUSE THERE'S NOTHING I CAN DO ABOUT IT. But I ate a hot dog on the 4th and didn't feel guilty for one second about it.
Are you SURE you're not a Christian? Because hell if I've ever seen a better blend of self-righteousness and ignorance than you. And I've seen a lot of sanctimonious assholes in my time friend.

On the upside, however, Turtle is incredible.
Also confidential to fett: divorcing hot dog consumption from the associated guilt will only lead to ruin.

What did the poor hotdog do to you. Stamp out cruelty to hotdogs, I say. Join SPCHD today!

I don't mind a history lesson as long as it isn't completely slanted. The slave trade didn't originate with the US. It was however taken to readily for the fruit it produced which was tobacco and cotton. In order to generate the amount demanded in Brittain it was necessary to clear large tracts. The whole of southern economy became dependent on it. What started as simple survival became entrenched business. The starvation of Jamestown taken too much to heart.
In order to enslave it is necessary to think of the other as less. More died to correct this than in any US war. The legacy has been tenatious particularly in the south which was most dependent and thereby most crippled and bitter. We still struggle, though perhaps less than some think.
Nevertheless the US is the most diverse melting pot in the world. We learn, often the hard way, perhaps because nothing we have ever done has been an easy choice. We emerge, as does the rest of the world, from hardscrabble history. I love this country for all her mistakes and eccentricities. Marvelous eccentricities. When I celebrate it I celebrate it's best and there is plenty to celebrate.

Well, seems your troll attempt worked with at least one person. :tsktsk: That has to be what it was, because you just couldn't be that stupid otherwise.
(Hmm, I wonder if England had slaves in 1776? Nah, couldn't be!)
