None of the Black Parade missions have an automap, so you're not missing anything there. Just takes a bit more interpreting to figure out where you are.
Got it, thanks!

I agree for the most part. But I would also argue that maps in Thief have always been as immersive as they can get. There's a (
https://youtu.be/jPqwDGXxLhU?feature=shared&t=193) video that puts it in a much better way than I can (at the 3:13 mark in case the link didn't do it automatically). In the case of automapping, it makes sense that the character has a general idea of where they are even if the player (me in this case) is a bit more confused. They're more familiar with the world they live in than I am. :)

Thank you! It's been years since I played Thief (any version). Really excited about this. Working through some AngelLoader issues but will figure it out!

Thank you to all for the responses. The brightness setting in Nvidia Control Panel worked. I am on my way to enjoy hours of Thiefy goodness!
Awesome!

I love auto map. Is a nice compromise between no automap and full-on GPS tracker in many games. More immersive than no auto map for me because I'm more 'at one' with the game world when I know where I am, where I have been, and where I have yet to go, with relation to the maps presented to me. And the moments where there are question marks on the maps in T2, I love that ... as moments of feeling lost or charting new territory. A good balance. I actively consult the map more often to get my bearings when it is automap. With non-automap, I kinda just throw my hands in the air, figuratively speaking, and just wander through the game world, rarely consulting the map. There's a little less feeling of being grounded in the world with that. Since the map is on a separate screen, too, there is less reason to trouble myself with toggling over to it if it is not auto map

I´ve just played through the whole campaign and would like to give my review/opinion on it:
As many others have already said, the talent and effort that went into this campaign is more than obvious and what came out is an amazing high-quality campaign with great atmosphere and storyline. I´d like to give a big thanks to the creators of the black parade for providing us thief fans with such a gorgeous, time-consuming campaign.
To the gameplay (this is only my personal taste and opinion, nothing more): I didn´t enjoy playing through the black parade. I am a big fan of the OMs since over 20 years now and I play them every few years, but for me the black parade was tedious to play through. I know many people just love the creepiness and undeads, but I´m not much of a fan of them and there were many missions with them included here (which is not surprising as it is a "love letter" to thief 1 as stated and obviously it needs to have undead missions then). But to me it felt completely different compared to the OMs. I just love Garrett, but Hume was... well.. not likeable I´d say. And even though I didn´t like him much until the end, the fact that he died made my opinion about it worse. Canon-story wise it definitely made sense, but it still felt a little frustrating playing this guy through 10 missions, 6-7 through them finding the stuff to get his curse away and only to fail in the end.
I liked how there appeared enemies from other fanmissions like Skacky´s huge spider or Nicked´s weird creatures that only move when you don´t look at them, but my favourite mission definitely was the keeper compound. It got the whole thing pretty exciting but after this mission it was a let down for me. Often the missions felt too big for me with lots of confusing architecture and back-tracking. But again this is just my personal taste. The fact that this is a high-quality, amazingly made campaign stands and I´m so very grateful that I got to play through it. So again thank you so much for your effort and time in creating this masterpiece :thumb:

missions 8 and 9 are my fav, i feel level 8 is a nod to bbb, and mission 9 was a nod to lady rowena both are amazing, i also like haunted house level with city/back city and haunted house, so that is my third fav mission, first part of that mission felt like bbb also but once you hit the grounds of the house it changes to a great place to check out, and yes i am random about this series as so much i forget to mention, omg i saw a burrick on one of the levels i let it live
i just want to know where are the secret places/etc i did not find anything on any level, there has got to be something, please let me know
and i went back and got loot i was mission from one of the missions, so 100% on expert for objectives, ohh and yeah i found that one gold nugget in the dark slot on level to get strings for harp,100% loot people will have a lot of fun with this one
i just wish when in city parts of fan mission there would be a lot more to explore as in buildings at least for level 9 i wanted ever shop open with foods/etc
also everything ran perfect on all missions
message me all secrets please so i can go back and find them, from bonus objectives?/hidden rooms/etc
also would love to see more friendly dogs and horses in future missions

Just finished it!
What a spectacular marathon descending into the heart of darkness, and, at least for a brief moment, back.
It made me work my Thief brain-muscle and challenged my orientation and navigation.
It even got me emotionally invested! Damn! I think it's the rain that got me!
Played on Expert (only way to play Thief) and even though I thought I was being thorough in exploration, I missed approximately 500 - 800 loot per level. You sneaky bastards!
Loved the ending, loved the beginning, loved the middle.
On technical side, from start to finish, all worked flawless.
Really a pro-level product.
I think it is the best thing I played this year!
Impressive!
Once again - Thank you!
