What a horrible clickbait headline. :p It's cool this is getting so much press though.

I agree it's a bit over the top and wondered if the author is a forum member, but it's still gratifying to see as you said.

Hi everyone. First time poster here, I wanted to say thank you for giving me the opportunity to replay my favorite game of all time (with a twist!).
I bought Thief back in the day based on a simple article from a humble local magazine. Didn't think much of it at the time and yet I still replay Thief Gold once every year or so. As someone with a passion for 3D modeling and an interest in game design and development, I'm amazed not only by how well this game holds up after all these years but how it's still a top contender in the stealth genre. I decided to look into FMs for the first time so here I am. I can't believe forums still exist. No shade I promise, just an observation. :D
I'm only on the second mission for now (
Constantine's damn mansion all over again, I'm so lost!) but I'm absolutely loving it. One question I wanted to ask is, am I having a bug with the map or is the feature that shows the general area you are in not working? (

I could be anywhere on the map and it'll always show that I'm in front of the gatehouse. Same for the second mission, it always shows that I'm in the sewers if I'm not mistaken. It's not a big deal, maps in Thief are more of a suggestion anyway and I enjoy getting a sense of the place myself, but it seems like you guys put a lot of work in the mod and it would be a shame not to experience it fully.

Ha, yes that's the other piece I wrote! In addition to the RPS one. Glad people are digging it. (I did not write the headline however!)

None of the Black Parade missions have an automap, so you're not missing anything there. Just takes a bit more interpreting to figure out where you are.

I prefer no automap, better immersion for me.

I've finished the campaign now. I played it on expert, which really forced me to see the whole missions to meet the loot and extra goals. So I got a good sense of how much went into each mission. Excellent level-design, gameplay, story-telling, atmosphere, and everything all around. It's a fitting tribute to the original game on its 25th anniversary.
I've read that people didn't like the ending, in particular Hume not being able to recover from his ailment, but I thought it was a really nice set-up for the first game and Garrett's entrance, not to mention the nice nod to the Trickster's ceremony at the end of the first game. More importantly though, the entire story through the whole game, in combination with the great levels of level design, was great, and the end was just once piece of the whole.
Since some people are listing their favorite level, looking back at it, I think for me it'd be the level with the Keeper's compound, Mission 6, Kept Away From View. The start was a cool nod to Assassin's, but it really emphasized this hidden world the Keeper's occupied. The city architecture was incredible, and the atmosphere with the rain. But I really liked sneaking through that massive compound and following the story there, with a few foreshadowing nods, and it ended with a bang. The tribute to The Sword, mission 2, Where Old Faces Fade, was also an amazing experience and tribute to my favorite OM, exploring that sprawling mansion, and I could call that my favorite as well, with Mission 6 just beating it out because of its special gameplay sequences.
I had such a good experience with every level though. I can think of scenes in every level that were very memorable that I thought were the best I'd experienced at the time I was playing it, and that happened over and over. Such great design that you kept outdoing yourselves like that.
Above all, I had a great experience with the whole game, and I offer all my appreciation to everyone that worked on this masterpiece!

Hi everyone,
The FM screen showed up but I made a mistake and bypassed it.
Now the initial prompt saying “The FM path “FMs” was not found or a valid directory. Create the directory?” Click Yes to continue" for the Zip file won't show up again!
Please help me to be able to relaunch it.
Thanks

Thank you to all for the responses. The brightness setting in Nvidia Control Panel worked. I am on my way to enjoy hours of Thiefy goodness!

I'm only on the first mission (1 hr 30 min in, I'm a poke everything person) but I'm loving all the notes and news letters in the town. They're all well done and really add to the atmosphere.
Very mild spoiler maybe: The one about the Baron and the Burrick in particular made me laugh.
