I don't really give a crap how easy or not it is for a 3 year old to use ebay, but I think the chances are pretty high that this was a PR stunt for the garage involved.
Every report I've seen reads almost exactly the same. It seems pretty likely that they're all based on the same press release and the majority of them mention the name of the seller and his business in full. A few are practically falling over themselves to say how "collectable" the car is. I would suggest that the press release originated either from the garage itself, or a PR company employed by them. They've let lazy journalists do the rest.
Whether it's a real event being handily exploited or a fabrication being handily exploited, I wouldn't like to say. Either way, it's an advert disguised as a human interest fluff piece.
