Shit. Do I lose my CommChat pass if StD challenges me to a boxing match and I lose?

I most definitely agree; this whole story just didn't ring true to me. I could read at three, but it was at least another two years before I'd mastered the use of a computer, so for a kid this age to (a) hack into his mother's eBay account and (b) navigate his way through the buy-it-now process, he must be some sort of technical genius.

StD just said it couldn't happen.
:erg:
I didn't really say that, I just said I thought it highly improbable. Which it is.

The way you figure it, yes.
The way the rest of us do, not so much.
Mom leaves computer on.
Kid bangs on keyboard.
eBay shortcut is opened.
By happenstance, kid clicks a few links and ends up looking at car.
Clicks 'buy it now'.
It's really not that amazing to imagine.

No it is not actually. I watched my 2Year old Nephew, put on a DVD under the TV. Select the correct Channel and play it... I personally think that is too young to allow.Though he was supervised. He could do it.

What's so hard to believe about this kid buying the car? The password was stored, and as long as he could read simple words, I don't see why it couldn't have happened. If a 4 year old can use DOS without any assistance, I think a 3 year old is capable of pressing several 'buy it now!' buttons.

My neice would quite happily put all of her dad's desktop icons in the recycle bin before she played Zoo Tycoon because she thought they made the screen messy. She was nearly three at the time, and knew precisely what she was doing.

Yeah, but now you see, I use eBay, and it's such a goddamn pain these days. Every time I visit eBay I have to enter my password, and every time I bid on an item I have to enter my password, and even if I check the little box that says "Keep Me Signed In", I
still end up having to enter my password all over again the next time I visit.
So it's not so much the mouse clicking I'm having a problem with; more the fact that in order to buy anything these days you typically end up having to input your password on at least two occasions.
Either that or we're breeding a race of technoboffins. Maybe we are.
