2nd part of the main quest Caius Cosadas(sp?) asks you to talk to a lizard man mage in the mage guild in Balmora. I've seen this guy before so I go back to the mage guild but he is not there. I've looked everywhere and can't find him. Is there something I'm missing? anybody else have this problem?

It's a woman, I believe, and she's down the ramp and immediately to the left when you come in the open room there.

Actually she isn't. She use to be there, but now she's gone. I was hoping someone else ran into the same thing and found here somewhere else.

This happened to me as well... I chose to explore the world for quite some time, and joined the Morag Tong. I remember talking to the female orc mage Caius directs you to earlier before I allied myself with him, and I also remember her disappearing, but I didn't think it was really important.
Now, it appears that I need to talk to her in order to advance along this plot line, and I'm not sure if it is just a bug or what. I am assuming that working with Caius is part of the main plot line, so I am hoping this doesn't keep me from proceeding along with this quest.
If anyone has any information about this quest, or if there are alternate ways to approach the "main plot line," I'd appreciate some information.

I've got the same problem as well. After I've been doing many mage-quests I finaly became Arch Mage and suddenly.. Many ppl just disappeard in vivecs mages guild.
Allso this person in Bamloras mages guild.
Must be a bug.. And a huge one.. We're stuck now!!!?

Ok, I asked around and finally found someone with an answer to this problem. Apparently it is a bug, where the NPC falls through the floor or something. However, it can be fixed by using some console commands.
For those that don't know, you can access the console by hitting the tilda, and then enter command lines, followed by enter in order to activate them.
You have to be in the Mages Guild when you do this. There are two commands I used, one is "RA," which resets the actors to their original positions. I tried this to start, but it didn't work by itself. The other is "togglecollision," which allows you to fly all around the map, through walls, etc. So I went to the spot where she should be, by the rack of bottles on the bottom floor of the Mages Guild. I used togglecollision and flew straight down into the void, quite a distance until I found her. Then I used typed ra in the console to send her back to her start location... I guess that the latter command only works on NPCs within a certain proximity of you. Anyway, hopefully this will fix the problem for everyone.

The Lizard Mage is in the Theives Guild is why he eluded me for quite some time too
