If Hillary has a brain she will offer Sanders the VP position and make certain his supporters vote for her ticket.
As for me if Trump looks like a win I'm buying a warehouse of ladders to start a ladder loan company in Mexico once the wall goes up.

I kind of wonder why that sort of thing - nomination runner-ups tapped as running mates - doesn't happen more often. With base-activation critically important in this polarized environment, it would seem like an obvious move.

Trump will win because Americans are idiots. Not all, but most. I'm prepared to argue this fact. Bring it
I'm not willing to concede the election or the country, but I will concede to your point. Its hard-look-in-the-mirror time for America, I'm still not convinced he'll win but just the mere chance I feel like has done irreparable damage.
That being said, it seems like every country that is or leans liberal (compared to america that is) has their own crazy right wing to deal with, and in times of uncertainty and fear they seem to gain in power.
I'll concede that as a country we are pretty stupid and getting more stupid, but we certainly don't have a monopoly on it.

I don't think they are going to be the ones that need the ladders.

One thing to remember is that in the past Hilary was calling for much of what Trump is now standing for. Now she's going for president and does a 360. What is her true opinion on those issues?

The way I've seen it, Clinton is basically just shoring up every base possible - reassurances to Wall Street, cosying up with Israel as much as is humanly possible etc...
To be honest, at this stage, she can campaign with one foot in both camps, get the disgruntled Democrats who don't want Trump and the disgruntled Republicans who don't want Trump.
Unless Idiocracy actually was a documentary, I can't see any way she'll lose.
I was having a conversation with one of my firm's economists yesterday, and he said that that "I don't like Trump, but I understand where his support his coming from" then talked me into going over to his office so he could show me a study. He also pointed out a quiz based on the article.
Everyone please go to this website and take the quiz.
(
http://www.pbs.org/newshour/making-sense/do-you-live-in-a-bubble-a-quiz-2/)
Basically, the quiz is based on the hypothesis that a lot of well off, upper middle class white people live in a complete bubble largely separated from the conditions and reality that the country at large lives in.
I actually scored a 62 on the quiz (high score, not bubbled) but that's only because my pre grad school work had me in a position where I worked with and supervised people from extremely diverse backgrounds on a daily basis. Had I gone on the career path my parents intended I'd probably have spent almost all my time around nerdy, well off white people in Urban areas and still been the kind of person who thinks it's offensive to make jokes about Asians. It also helps that my father was a bit of a recluse and preferred to live outside of city limits despite working in one of the "prestige" jobs mentioned.
I wish that was a joke. I actually did complain about someone making Asian jokes in college and said I was worried someone might be offended, then couldn't understand why the guy looked at me like I was being retarded.

It's actually important to the discussion because the results of this survey are probably going to determine whether you love or hate Donald Trump. It's also probably going to explain why you're incapable of understand
Uh oh! Did you get sucked into a black hole created by your own vast density!?

I dunno. Are you the kind of person who's willing to shove hot coals in his own eyes so he won't see anything that might change his opinion?
Just take the damn survey.
What I'm giving is something that will help you figure out why all those "idiots" are voting for Trump: they are, quite literally, living in a different reality than the well off, urban white people that TTLG consists of.

Um, not much use for non-Americans...

I wouldn't touch your stupid survey with a 50 mile pole.
Also, your lamenting of caricatures who themselves are supposedly whining about caricatures has caused your hole to gobble up that entire part of your post I quoted. GGWP
