Yeah, sorry, regurgitating Russia Today is just not good. And what a non-story it is -- someone who may or may not have been affiliated with Hillary's campaign made a phone call. Nothing is known about the caller other than that he may have been called John and he sounded like a prominent person.

The reason Trump is easy to understand is that he is simple minded. He makes blowhard assertions with no foundation in reality and gets others who are simple minded to agree based on no facts in evidence. He does not "articulate" anything. He keeps his options open for the simple reason he has no plan. It has worked well for him while he bilks people out of money through fear and baseless assertion of his greatness and infallibility but will not work in government. The only way his tactics will work in government is to align laws to favor him while he bilks the taxpayer with false promises like his "university". His silver spoon upbringing taught him how to use and discard the blue collar like all of his class but that in no way makes him smart unless you count it as a feral cunning.

OK, Clinton won California :)
Now we can safely say Sanders is out.
So when I start a new thread... Who do we need? Trump, Clinton, Jill Stein, Gary Johnson. Anybody else of note?

So the US presidential race is now a choice between a bought right-wing democrat, or a lunatic right wing republican in the pockets of the finance sector for his billions of dollars of debt.
Delightful.

A flip-side way of looking at it might be to look at how things may be 4 years later when their time is done (assuming they don't get re-elected).
Hilary - More politically correct US, more gun control, continuance of Obama's health care stuff.
Trump - Less politically correct US, the US at war with / or hated by everyone (probably), a wall existing between the US and Mexico.
Much of politics world over tends to only look at very short term related stuff, only covering a parties time in office over that time period and never more lasting. It's a big reason why you don't see many countries seriously acting on climate change since their care factor is zero for what happens after their term is up.

I don't think Clinton could get gun control; even if Congress goes blue, the Blue Dog coalition would still stop it. Trump Wall would probably be a smallish façade; no way is there going to be the wall of his promises, it's logistically... Improbable. Mexico couldn't pay for it if they wanted to. And it would almost certainly end up getting built by immigrant labor of dubious legality...

The way I've seen it, Clinton is basically just shoring up every base possible - reassurances to Wall Street, cosying up with Israel as much as is humanly possible etc...
To be honest, at this stage, she can campaign with one foot in both camps, get the disgruntled Democrats who don't want Trump and the disgruntled Republicans who don't want Trump.
Unless Idiocracy actually was a documentary, I can't see any way she'll lose.

Spoilers. With two unpopular nominees, expect third party candidates to do better than usual. Right now it looks like Gary Johnson (libertarian) is going to get more support than Jill Stein (green). If Sanders makes an independent bid, though... But it seems like he won't? I dunno.
faetal on 9/6/2016 at 23:13
If Sanders makes an independent bid, it'll likely increase Trump's charges by splitting the democrat vote though right?
Pyrian on 10/6/2016 at 03:01
Right. That's what I was getting at. Right now a serious split on the left is Trump's best chance, but polls actually show a bigger split on the right. Certainly I know plenty of people who've declared they won't vote for either.
