When I eventually reread it I'll use some kind of guide, but on the first run-through I found wiki+dictionary sufficient to enjoy most of it. That chapter in which a baby's born (and in which Joyce parodies the history of written English in chronological order) would require a classics degree (or more!) to fully appreciate.

I wasn't attacking really, I just had a hunch that he himself doesn't really have to go through all those books. If he does, then what I said was already unnecessary. But hey, he shouldn't have wasted enough time reading what I said anyway. :rolleyes:

Yeah you're probably right. I have to admit that I actually do read a few hours a day (in my mid-20's I found it worked as a great cure for insomnia) but 200 might be a bit crazy.
