Our former gvt has managed to attract several car manufacturers (though non-US based), they have bult factories on soil which in several cases could be used agriculturally, but now as the crisis started they are limiting production or pulling back entirely. Maybe their abandoned factories will look just as deserted in a decade or two, unless a the economy won't be kicked up anytime soon.
Damn shame about Detroit, many of those buildings certainly have some historical value. The state should make some expenses to preserve at least the most valuable ones, but I guess that's not an easy thing to do on federal level in the US. :erg:

Whoa, I thought those buildings were too irradiated to go into safely. Did you guys have a geiger counter with you? Was the place relatively safe?
Still would be creepy hearing on of those emitting static as background noise in that city *shivers*
