2008 TTLG Mock presidential election. Poll included - by io organic industrialism

Hah, here's a traditional election indicator I hadn't heard of before - in 16 of the last 17 Presidential elections, if the Washington Redskins have won their last home game before polling day then the incumbent party has won the election, but if they have lost then the challenging party has grabbed the White House.
Their last home score this year? A 23-6 defeat.

I voted! I filled out my ballot and then studied it for five minutes just to make sure I hadn't made any mistakes and the pen mark wasn't somehow magically switching from Obama to McCain.
I'm feeling positive, as Obama is going to win huge unless there is some massive unexpected dark unknown that rears its head. I must say, though, as much as this one is in the bag I'm FREAKING THE FUCK OUT
It ain't over until the votes are tallied!

I voted over a week ago in early voting.
Feels like participating in history, doesn't it? Far cry from 2004; I couldn't bring myself to vote I was so depressed about the choice.
I did have that paranoid moment where I double-checked everything.
Funny thing about this election that it's so one-sided, but I feel like it will still come as a "surprise" when it actually happens, and will take the country a few days to sink in. I don't know, actually, what the reaction will be ... interesting to see, that's for sure.

Is it over finally?

I voted a few weeks ago early, but I know what you mean. I kept staring at the screen, reluctant to press confirm, checking over and over like it was going to magically change the second I hit it.
I don't know what I'm going to do with myself today, I can't bring myself to study or do anything. Its like christmas, I just want to go to sleep and wake up and it be over and time for my presents.

Read an article yesterday about how Obama will probably win the popular vote but that it is a possibility that McCain wins the electoral college vote. That would suck.

Yeah, I saw that article and promptly ignored it. That scenario is technically possibly but highly unlikely, to put it mildly.
I've settled down a bit over here, calmed by the promising results of early voting. Also, I can't see how the supposed enormous turnout doesn't work in Obama's favor.
But christ I could use the delicate touch of a woman right about now.

I'm pretty stoked too. This is the first election where I really feel like I'm 100% on the right side with no reservations.
Also, at the risk of this being taken the wrong way, I have to say: As an American who lives in the middle of the Bible Belt/Southern states, I felt like I was part of history yesterday when I cast my vote for a black American. Goosebumps and all that shit. Seriously, how completely fucking awesome is that, considering my grandfather was a card carrying member of the KKK?
