The worst thing we liberals can do is get complacent and smug, but this is basically over.
Umm, maybe its just me but saying its basically over sounds, how should I put this? Oh yeah, its sounds complacent and smug.:laff:

Nonsense, I'm merely interpreting existing data and making safe predictions. I'll save the party hats for when everyone is done voting.

Yeah, thats great. It interrupted my watching of Andy Griffith last night and I was quite irritated. I can't wait until I'm back to watching low quality car commercials and other terrible local shit.

So, in my opinion, one of the very, very few things that could potentially threaten Obama winning the Presidency at the moment has (
http://elections.foxnews.com/2008/10/30/clinton-suggests-obama-uncertain-economic-crisis/) just happened. I don't know if this article is legit, or will be called "out of context", or whatever but if those quotes are actual
quotes from Bill Clinton (quoting Obama or just near-as), they could not have come at a worse time. This is the very point in the campaign, when Obama's been criticised of cruising it and acting like the deal is done, that moderates and swing-states could be swayed away from a cars-showroom politician which is exactly what the quotes presented in the article present him as.
I don't know, I guess we'll see how it goes but you certainly can't spin that it's just a President seeking advice when you factor in the "I'll figure out how to sell it" part.

Anything reported by fox news has to be taken with a grain of salt.

That article is just about as hysterical as Elizabeth Dole's commercial!
OH MY GOD HE HAS
ADVISERS WE'RE ALL DOOMED

Barack Obama represents America's future, and you've got to be there for him next Tuesday
We can't fool with this. Our country is hanging in the balance. And we have so much promise and so much peril. This man should be the president.

I recognised it was Fox news and that meant a certain amount of salt-taking was required, but whatever way you slice it those quotes attached to Bill come off less complementary than "Obama sought our advice".

You know that Obama was like right there and was obviously very happy with the speech Clinton gave, right?
I mean come on, these are the quotes you're worried about. They are the only quotes of Bill in the entire article:
"I haven't cleared this with him and he may even be mad at me for saying this so close to the election, but I know what else he said to his economic advisers. He said, 'Tell me what the right thing to do is. What's the right thing for America? Don't tell me what's popular. You tell me what's right -- I'll figure out how to sell it."
"He called those people. You know why? Because he knew it was complicated and before he said anything he wanted to understand. That's what a president does in a crisis."
"He has executed this campaign in a way that is different from modern and forward thinking -- something no one else ever could have done. He can be the chief executor of good intentions as president."
That's weak sauce as far as damaging comments go, especially since at two of them (all of them, actually) are praise. People aren't going to be worried about the "selling it" thing when the thing he is trying to sell is the right thing to do. And the rest of the article is a McCain spokesman trying to stir up shit. At least 40% of the country is going to vote for McCain no matter what and they're the only ones who are going to care about this.
