Would you believe me if I told you that Geoff Tate has the worst halitosis of any human being on the planet?:eww:

I would have no reason not to, although it's not something I'm prepared to contemplate too deeply on before I reply.

I started out with Images and Words, which a buddy of mine turned me on to. It was ok. I believe I listened to it a couple of times and secreted it away. I didn't really think anything about them again until their later releases, speaking of all those after the year 2000, and my interest was renewed. They are much better now in my opinion, the guitars are alot heavier but still classic Dream Theater. Pretty decent band though.

It's interesting how they evolved after the 90's - the last two albums have a distinct Tool influence, and I even hear a little Rage Against the Machine from time to time. No mean feat for a prog band.

Octavarium is really influences by Muse. Never enough sounds like a mix between Hysteria and Stockholm Syndrome. Both the drummer and that Petrucci guy state that Muse's drummer and guitarists are their favorites of their respective instruments.
They also cover Muse songs live.
