Well, lads, ive gotten my grubby paws on a copy of Deus Ex. So far ive blown up the EMP generator. My years of Thief playing have come in handy, as i've used my electric prode or hunting knife 90% of the time in silent take downs.
Just thought i'd say! Great game so far!

I envy everyone who still can experience Hong Kong for the first time :)

I'm just playing for the first time, too, and I really like this game. I envy you, though, for getting to the EMP generator. I'm crashing to the desktop in Hell's Kitchen, every time I push the "up" button on the elevator. Anybody experienced this? (And, before somebody says it, yes, I have a legit, not a cracked copy.) :)

Actually, the first time I played Hong Kong, I got horribly, miserably lost, but hey, no worries. (And maybe I'm alone in that. Lord knows I'm a terrible navigator in real life.)

1. Have you patched the game?
2. There are other ways of getting to the rooftops, try one of them and maybe you'll manage to avoid the problem.

You can also use a baton to knock people out. It's not silent at all, but it's handy if you don't want to kill someone. Just thought you may want to know, I myself had to bet told about this little feature.

The baton is excellant in the hands of a master' :ebil:
As long as you stay quiet and sneak up behind the bad guy, base of the neck, smack him and he's out. helps to save batteries for the prod, which comes in handy when you really need to drop someone, again stealthy.

indeed it does

It is silent, as long as you do what GamesBeast666 says. (Except you hit them anywhere on the back, not just the base of the neck. Also note that not all enemies will go down with one baton hit.) I think what Sah was referring to is that you can still knock them out even if they're alerted. Hit them enough times with the baton and they'll fall unconscious. (Unlike Thief where if you hit them too many times with the blackjack, they die.)
And btw, the knife isn't actually silent. Well, the knife is, but when someone dies, they let out a horrible scream and that's not silent.
