:weird:
i MAY need a re-read since at first glance nothing much happens in FFC - but now it seems LOTS happens.

also:
so sam is buddies with Jaquen H'gar, and now he has full access to Oldtown (supposedly)....Sam v. EVIL Maesters who he is studying with?
I don't see Sam immediately being befriended by Jaqen, but something will come around, given time. I've no idea what GRRM has going on there.
I'm also glad to see Westeros taking note of Dany, that's at least two gone off to get her that we know of (the Mastiff and Victarion), and I suspect Varys has left for Dany too.
Paz: Who says Sarella? Where? When? I vaguely recall it.
What makes you think they're buddies?
Scots -
I don't recall, but probably in one of the Dornish chapters. Possibly when someone (Prince Doran?) is listing what all the Sand Snakes are up to? As I say, I read the backwards name thing elsewhere.

well they're hardly going to be
enemies are they? GRRM obviously has big plans for Jaquen, and since Sam is (it seems) goign to be at the centre, or be very influential in the Dany v. Maesters fight which appears to be brewing - having Sam befriended; or at least associated with Jaquen is natural.
unless...
Jaquen: hi!
Sam: hi!
Jaquen: night watch brother eh?
Sam: yup.
Jaquen: i HATE those guys...*stabs Sam*
Sam: ugh! *dies*
wouldnt work.
:joke:

oh, i'm actually listening to the audio-book for Game of Thrones.
theres a line in the first Dany chapter; where she's talking about how little she knows of Casterley Rock and the Usurpers to the throne.
heres the thing - Dany is going to land in Westeros fully expecting to fight the Tyrells, Starks, Lannisters, Greyjoys etc since these are the house's who caused the Targaryens fall from power.
but they're not there anymore are they? well, the greyjoys and lannisters are still there (less-so in the lannisters case) so what will she do?
also, we've been constantly told by GRRM through the books that the Starks were friends of the first men, of the children of the forrest - who were the ones who helped keep the Others at bay behind the Wall. So if Dany comes storming in seeking to destroy these houses; or get them under her rule - doesnt that means she's betraying the trust of the Children of the Forest? (the designated "good guys" throughout).
i'm just typing as i think, so apologies if this is bullshit and illegible - but what do you think is going to happen in DWD? Sure we'll see Dany consolidate herself before attacking Westeros; and i fully expect the book to end with her either finally setting sail for her war, just landing, or even joining up with Jon Snow in the North once she hears of the impending invasion from the Others...
gah...
D'Juhn Keep on 6/12/2005 at 13:49
To go west she must travel east. We won't see any hot Dany on Westeros action in the next book, I'm fairly sure.
I think the Faceless Men are after some of ther secrets in the Citadel as they have a fair idea of the long night coming. They probably want to arm themselves against it. At least I hope they do. It just occurred to me that it'd be at least as likely they want the Others to successfully kill everyone, given that they're a bloody death cult of assassins. Quote Posted by Curunir
Seriously people, what's with the George Martin hype? Having two R.-s to stick between his named doesn't make you as good as Tolkien despite the visual trick.
ok

The pesky Tyrells fought for the Targaryens (I think?)
I'm not sure the Greyjoys fought for anyone, except maybe for themselves.

whats everyone's take on
the obsidian candles
, and their significance?
