I avoid anything by Roland Emmerich. He's about as bad as Uwe Bol!
I just saw Pan's Labyrinth on DVD and it pretty much blew me away. Very beautiful movie but it punches you in the gut. I'll probably watch it again.
I wonder why Hollywood can't make a movie like that? Instead we get remakes and sequels galore. It's embarrassing!

You got dirk-toothed and scimitar-toothed, so I guess spear-toothed isn't too retarded.

This is both upsetting and shocking news. The trailers had me prepared for an authentic, yet exciting look at pre-historic man in his natural habitat. Was there not even any actual historic footage included?

Independence day aside, The Day After fucking Tomorrow. That movie was such utter shit in every single possible way that it should have it clear that that guy is a total fucktard in every sense. 10,000 BC is just icing on the cake.

I wasn't expecting this movie to be historically-oriented any more than I expected 300 to. But the setting of a movie is more than just pretty pictures, it generally has something to do with the theme or the plot. In 10,000 BC, it has no purpose.

Yeah, the Day After Tomorrow was so awful that I knew what was coming. But my mother loves these kinds of movies, so I have to take her and have fun for her sake. Happily, I did think the mammoths were kind of cute, romping around.
Whenever I'm stuck watching a stupid movie, I've started paying attention to technical things like how shots are composed, the blocking, lighting, and how the writing connects scenes in a technical sense, etc. ... This wasn't all that good for that, either, but at least it gave me redeemable things to look out for.

It sounds more and more like yet another F/X reel to demo new graphic toolsets disguised as a movie for us to hopefully bring in funds for the next project.

So it sucks? My supervisor and one of my colleagues were advisors on this film. They told them how to get the mammoths moving at least semi-right.
Do Hollywood producers have your supervisor, Ph.D. I'm assuming , on speed dial? Because I seem to recall you mentioning that he was also an advisor on Jurassic Park 3, and that he had a hard time convincing people that some dinosaurs actually had feathers.
