It's kinda weird, because I agree with you both on certain points. People want Stephen Russell back. That's cool. They've been fans since way back, and they deserve to voice their opinion (preferably civilly so you don't look like jackasses). A petition is a good way to do that.
On the other hand, is your opinion as important as the creative direction the developers want to take their game? Queue is right about this...

It's not arrogance, it's the plain and simple truth. The best games, the best music, the best art, the best wahtever come from people making the things they want to make. The things they feel passionate about. They want to make something the way they think it should be made. If they work solely on everyone else's opinion of what should be what, they likely won't feel as committed to the project, and it probably won't turn out as well as it could. Think design by committee here.
So who's right and who's wrong?

I agree. When there is no freedom, there is no creativity.
An artist who is free is never a prisoner.
The answer as to who is right and who is wrong is obvious to me. :)

The answer is, relatively speaking,
this is simply a poor casting choice...So in this regard, they are
free to make all the crappy artistic choices they want to...and feel really good about that.

So proud of their 3D Garrett model, that anything they can match it with, except Thief, is A-OK in their book!

Since they're probably not bringing Russell back, they should at least have the decency to change the protagonist's name from Garrett to something else. Let Thief 4 be a "spiritual successor" to the Thief series.
At least give us that Eidos :(

You know, honestly, I thought them adding the jet fighters to the game was a nice touch. I think you people should open up your minds a little bit and realize...
...just how freaking awesome...
...flying a jet fighter across the city is gonna be.
Oh. And it's a stealth jet fighter. It wouldn't be Thief if it were a regular jet fighter.

It ain't an open mind if it doesn't allow for opposition and challenge, favors blind optimism and F4ITH, and is the equivalent of denial and fingers in the ears. No one here has an open mind. Every single one of us is stubborn and inflexible where we have learned to distrust. Every single one of us wants things to be better but has yet to be convinced to lower our walls to that which we are not compatible with. Open minds, my ass.:mad: And that's excluding those who don't know what's going on and won't learn.
