(
http://www.expertreviews.co.uk/games/1298257/ps4-release-date-specs-price-controller-news) This is the closest thing I could find for the price of the PS4.
...which doesn't tell you much at all, really. I'd say expect to pay anywhere between $350 to $600 for it on release. If it's on the more expensive end of things, I'd suggest building your own computer. You could build a great gaming PC for about the same price.

Given the hardware similarity I wouldn't be surprised if it were easier to emulate a PS4 on a PC than a PS3.

It wouldn't need an emulator, rather it'd use something like a compatibility layer. Wine in Linux would be a good analog. They both run on the same base hardware, but use entirely different software environments.
The more interesting thing to me would be if someone could find a way to run Windows on a PS4.

Did anybody else plan on buying the new xbox rumored to come out in November?
Nope, I'm getting a PS4. And I'll be upgrading my computer to match it.
Renz - you won't get much for the price of a PS4 I don't think. They'll be selling at a loss and even that 8Gb of GDDR5 RAM is going to take up a good chunk of your budget. I've been keeping up with the PS4 rumours (since I want one!) and they are going to be much more reasonably priced than the PS3 was.

I also read (more speculation, btw) that the PS4 will be starting around $699 and the technically advanced versions can go as high as $900.
Those kinds of prices are just untenable, a bit like the nVidia GTX Titan which is at £800 atm yet offers less perf than 2X GTX670's which would cost £200 less.
Anyway back on topic..

I edited the petition so it says 15,000 is the goal.
I used to keep constantly updating it as it gets higher for a psychological 'we're almost there' effect that motivates people to sign it.
Think it's a good idea to make a much higher, fixed goal (that might change again, of course), or do you think I should just update it constantly as we go along? Thoughts, guys?
jtr7 on 21/4/2013 at 13:06
Keep it open-ended in fact, while placing the goal wherever you think is reasonable at whatever point along the way. :)
CloudOJD on 21/4/2013 at 13:16
That's what I would've done already, but there is no option to make it open ended, unfortunately. So, it's either update it or make it fixed. And then update it if there are more people wanting to sign.

That's what I meant, really, don't leave it stuck unless you can't keep attending it anymore. Maybe approach it like Diablo, and double the goal every time we're about to reach it.
