And because you basically work for EM. Either that or you like to heavily imply so for some reason. Nothing wrong with that, nice to have someone about the place that does I guess, but I am curious. It's true, right?
No, it isn't because I work for EM. I have explained my reasons for not signing quite clearly and honestly.
Is it true I'm "Viktoria"? Yes. But I am not "employed" by EM - I'm just a fan of the game and a volunteer moderator only.
When I am in mod-mode over there, it is to perform mod duties in accordance with the ToU.
All other times I post, (there or here) I post as "me". I express my honest opinions always. :)

I hope at the very least that Benny would be in it and Stephen Russell would at least be able to voice some of the guards. Honestly, I'm absolutely sure that the new voice actor will be good at what he is doing, professional and all but the new accent and voice just does not cut out for me.
Penalizing a voice actor just because he can't do any stunts or be athletic is just very unfair not only to Stephen Russell but also to the true blue fans of Thief especially with the success of Elizabeth from Bioshock Infinite having separate actors for the voice, mo cap and the cosplay where fans actually found Elizabeth believable. I truly believe that if EM wanted to make Stephen Russell fit into the "Thief" game that they are developing, they would consider many options in order to make it work which will fit into what they originally wanted and what the fans want. Instead, they settled for a much easier option, a new voice actor who can act out all 3 roles.
And last but not least, EM could have made a female thief as the main protagonist as seen from the ending scene of Thief 3 where a girl tries to steal from Garrett. It would be interesting how they developed her character and could get a female voice actor.
I'm actually happy and excited for the new Thief game but it would have been better if Stephen Russell could play the voice of Garett.

Regardless of your reasons and whether or not they pay you though, having been a Mod myself at Ion Storm during the TDS days, you represent the EM forums. Signing a petition in direct opposition to their position would be 'somewhat' a conflict of interest, so it's understandable that you wouldn't sign it for that reason as well.
Had this happened during the TDS development though, I would have un-volunteered myself and signed. ;)

This may be an understandable reason for you; but its not my reason. I've said my reasons.
There is no conflict of interest when it comes to expressing my own personal opinions... I will continue to express them.
Why would I un-volunteer something and sign something I don't agree with?
I don't agree that EM MUST have SR as voice actor. ;)
Now, had EM decided to go with those dumb climbing gloves, for example, and the petition was to convince EM to return to the rope arrow. I would sign it because I agree with it.

Interesting to note, that several youtube posts with 60+ likes have been recently deleted by EM, which simply stated that they thought Stephen Russell is the only voice for Garrett...Such an ugly, desperate move from EM...:nono:

But to be expected, Vae. All of my posts were deleted from the 'Meet Romano' YouTube site, and yeah, all of them were very negative and they finally banned me (along with probably countless others). I guess freedom of speech doesn't apply over at EM. Too bad they aren't taking the hint (which is so far looking more like in-your-face EM).
;)
I'm giving myself a time out from the T4 threads for awhile; sick and tired of reading how predujiced, narrow-minded, and what a 'hater' I am. Maybe I went a little overboard for a minute (for which I apologized profusely), but I really don't want anymore sunshine and lollipops crammed down my throat. The more I see, hear, and read about T4, the more disappointed and disillusioned I become.
You're dead right about the ugly move, though.

Shame about the deletions and subsequent ban, but how many posts did you make and how negative were they; ie. were they very rude with profanity?
Other comments of a negative nature remain, so clearly there is freedom of speech,.... so just trying to figure out the exact reason for the ban.

I have found your posts insightful, and for the most part, coming from one who is truly passionate about something deeply loved...which is to be supported by those who actually believe in a true THIEF game. I am so glad that you are here, and you are definitely a blessing to the community.
I and many others have found EM to be immoral with their repeatedly uncouth use of censorship...They wish to quash righteous decent with techniques that only a tyrant would employ...and this, along with other misguided choices, is the basis for the community response at large.

Deleting profanity, hate speech, obscenity, spam, slander etc etc is not censorship. Even if you wish to argue that deletion/bans are still "some form of" censorship... it isn't the type of censorship you describe. Attempting to keep debate sensible, mature and on-topic is not something uncouth or something only tyrants employ.
When it comes to this kind of objectionable behaviour , intelligent minds expect a little
self-censorship to come into play.
For those unable to express themselves in a civil way their posts are deleted. If they persist, they are ultimately banned. This is pretty much the norm for most official sites, in accordance with their rules.
Anyway, this is why I ask Dia for more details. She could indeed have fallen foul to uncouth use of censorship.
Dia?
