Sure, when the word about this spreads, there may be some more people who won't buy the game because of SR's absence. And it might change the buying decision of those unsure customers, of course. But 2000 people? I feel that that's a bit too much. The ones who choose not to buy the game will have many other reasons too.

It is my hope that at some point the powers that be will form a cohesive collection of things gone wrong that need fixing and present it as the Thief Petition. Of course, the more information they reveal about the new title the more this could change, but they seem to be hiding out at the moment!
Gauging fan reactions, dare we hope? There's that little ray of hope I'm holding onto that says maybe EM released as much information as they did when they did for that specific purpose. A year is a long time afterall.
Of course, I could always be wrong.

Except that it will cost them more than that, due to the ripple effect...If EM was smart, they'd seek to correct their misguided course before this becomes a much larger problem for them...
And by a much larger problem, I mean the compounding collection of multiple problems.

There's at least a year of potential change! Maybe they can make that typewriter make a clacking sound, or its bell ring like at the end of a line, when frobbed, instead of completely non-interactive. Naw. Gimme more than one Claw, if we can't have rope arrows, or can we, who knows?

I hate having to do this: I never said 2000 people would not buy the game. Ok? What I did say is that there are 2000 people who potentially as a whole or in part will or wont buy the game. That is potentially $100,000 either gained or lost. I think that is worth considering, even at this modest stage, for *any* business... Hello.

Hello. Ok.
Let's add a few "potentiallys" in my post then and it should all be fine.

Better now?

2000 games selling at $50 is $100,000.
...and it's more than just those copies.
Square Enix/IO Interactive learned the hard way, when Hitman: Absolution failed to meet sales figures, that negative word-of-mouth doesn't simply reach the individuals expressing it.
Even a game like Mass Effect 3 - which initially
shattered sales records - wasn't immune from it. The first couple weeks of sales were strong... but as soon as news of that ending began to circulate, the sales fall-off was immediate and
dramatic.

Actually, I thought games were done by committee. Meetings, emails, whiteboards, conferencing...
