The truth is, the Eidos forums are a "no no" to forums everywhere...Pretty soon they might "no no" their dwindling membership out of existence.

Naw, they're removing one form of life from their Petri dish, to cultivate their super-strain. Then they'll have the controlled system right where they want it.

And to think of the raw potential in the early days of the Crippled Burrick Inn, I believe it was. Had a real solid group over there at that time and I miss it. It used to be a lovely place, granted that was like 13 years ago. I think Ive made 6 posts there since 2000 and visited as many times.

Even all the nice people there, many also here, wasn't enough to make people feel they wanted to stick around.

To all of you who have taken the time to post here and elsewhere over the last few days, I wanted to finally come out from the shadows and express to you how truly overwhelmed and astonished I am by the appreciation so many people have shown. The fact that people all over the world have responded so positively to the work I was fortunate enough to be able to do means the world to me. Creating Garrett's voice (and Benny and Karras) and working closely with the incredibly talented and encouraging audio team at Looking Glass, particularly those geniuses Eric Brosius and Kemal Amarasingham, was one of the highlights of my life and I'm extremely grateful to them for the opportunity. I'm also more grateful than I can ever express that so many fans responded so enthusiastically over the years and continue to do so even now. Anyone who's been involved in the performing arts for any length of time knows full well the vagaries of the business, that there will be good times and there will be not so good times and one always hopes that the former will outweigh the latter. I consider myself very fortunate that I'm still working and enjoying what I'm doing even if the winds have change have once again brought new directions.
With sincere thanks and all best wishes.
Stephen
Thank you for reaching out to us Mr Russell, or rather Garrett, it's an honor to hear from you at long last :) We appreciate the acknowledgment, and I have to say after reading that message I feel pretty damn good. Still, we're going to keep the fight going, try to get you back into Thief... because frankly, without you Thief is not Thief to me. The petition is going pretty strongly, and with a little luck might get something accomplished, all over we're delivering the news and rallying up support... it doesn't look hopeless entirely. Regardless of how things play out, you will always be a hero of this community... thank you again for everything :)

That was really nice, antihero.
You know, these uncensored letters are just great...I think I'll start posting them colectively on the OP, this way Stephen can easily read them when he gets an email reply from this thread...:D
Keep the "Thank you Notes" and the petition signing going!...:thumb:

Thanks Vae, and yes, I made a far longer message towards him over on the eidos forum if you want to go take a look at it, basically I said everything I had to... but I wouldn't be surprised if some of it gets edited by those moderators at this point. I prefer the freedom here of course, and this is my place as a Taffer, but when I heard they were sending messages to him I sort of jumped on to it, considering i've been in love with this series for about a decade or so and this is my first chance for him to get a message from me... but of course I addressed that my message was not a goodbye letter or anything of the sort, and that we're all in his corner. I have to say, I was really bummed even as I was equally motivated to keep searching for support for our cause, but getting this message from him has really given me a boost when I needed it.
The good fight continues folks :)

Glad you could be a part of this. There are thousands of past members who have disappeared over the years for hundreds of reasons, and I wish they could be a part of this, too.
In the past, even with all the activity on the Eidos boards for Thief and Thief fans, there are reasons why the fanbase over there, or at any other forum, wasn't included in the Special Thanks in the credits for the games, but TTLG was, and that's one of a multitude of things affecting development and relations that led us here today. The history of things plays heavily into today, so I hope people can realize that, and maybe, go and check some of those things out. Thief Appreciation Master Classes.

Mr. Russell, (may I call you Stephen, too? :)), your voice-over work in Thief 1&2&3 is just amazing. Like many of us, I was very surpized when I've read that, in Thief 2, Garrett and Karras were voiced by the same actor, you Stephen. The first my thought was: "It's impossible!" The second one was: "Why not? Just remember how brilliant he works as Garrett and Benny!" I suppose, that's what is called a true acting technique.
Your voice is a diamond, and we all will feel ourselves robbed if Thief 4 will be released without this jewel. I personally join the Dominus' proposal about the voice pack for Thief 4 with you as Garrett. Please don't forget us and visit us anytime you want, because we love you and are always glad to see you here, Stephen :).

All those dark nights in the shadows
stealing the city blind
as you spoke to me as Garrett
little did you realize
you were also stealing my heart.
