I noticed Harland's message no longer exists. That didn't take long. :D

I'd guess Eidos were unhappy about messages posted on its boards being copied elsewhere.
It's a PR move. Plain and simple.

Yep, and the MO becomes intimidate poor skaadi. I cant believe it. "I didnt think it through"?!?! You did the right thing in a moment of obvious epiphany, and endeared yourself to the core of the real Thief fanbase by coming home to TTLG and leaving the EM connections behind. You were doing the *right* thing and obviously felt the power of the original Thief community. I dont see what there is to think through...

Skaadi, thank you for clearing this up. Now you know I might say "I told you so" when I wrote the other topic about PR... EM saw the opportunity and were willing to jump on the wagon. And of course they didn't see it as a good idea spreading your efforts on multiple forums. That's proves it wasn't just "our Team has a relationship with Stephen and will gladly pass the messages on".
Good thing TTLG solved it faster. And better.
As for the invitation, no thanks, I will stay independent :) EM forums have nothing of interest for me.
And by the way, I think you loose nothing if you stay here, as well. Just saying...

Well there's those people who had already offered messages over at the Eidos boards.
Goldmoon Dawn on 12/4/2013 at 00:38
Dammit, youre right! Well, he still could have just abandoned it or turned it over to thiefessa . . . and started over here! ok, nm. :p

I only posted mine over there because I thought the only way to reach him would be through EM.

To all of you who have taken the time to post here and elsewhere over the last few days, I wanted to finally come out from the shadows and express to you how truly overwhelmed and astonished I am by the appreciation so many people have shown. The fact that people all over the world have responded so positively to the work I was fortunate enough to be able to do means the world to me. Creating Garrett's voice (and Benny and Karras) and working closely with the incredibly talented and encouraging audio team at Looking Glass, particularly those geniuses Eric Brosius and Kemal Amarasingham, was one of the highlights of my life and I'm extremely grateful to them for the opportunity. I'm also more grateful than I can ever express that so many fans responded so enthusiastically over the years and continue to do so even now. Anyone who's been involved in the performing arts for any length of time knows full well the vagaries of the business, that there will be good times and there will be not so good times and one always hopes that the former will outweigh the latter. I consider myself very fortunate that I'm still working and enjoying what I'm doing even if the winds have change have once again brought new directions.
With sincere thanks and all best wishes.
Stephen
Thank you so much Stephen, for making Garrett, Karras, Benny and the other characters in the Thief universe come to life; they just wouldn't be the same without your great talent.
It would be a terrible shame if we do not get to hear you bring life to Garrett once again in Eidos Montreal's new version of Thief; for me there will be only one true Garrett and I know many others feel the same way. I sincerely hope we can make them change their decision but no matter what they choose to do I hope we will continue to be blessed with your wonderful performances for many years to come, in future Thief games as well as other works.
Many thanks from your fans in Sweden!

The fans individually own their gratitude. For EM to treat individuals' gratitude as property or a marketing instrument is foul.
Keep the notes coming in, taffers! The window of opportunity has not closed and should remain open indefinitely!
