EM is the one who has fragmented the situation in the first place, by foolishly deciding on a misguided move...You have no one to blame but yourselves, and attempting to appease the THIEF community by means of dubious afterthoughts, is only insulting.
There may be no hard feelings between Mr. Russell and EM, but I have a tremendous amount of rancor toward EM and want nothing to do with them.

Meanwhile, I posted in Eidos' forum mentioning that we had succeeded in making our sentiments known to Mr Russell. Their moderator had this to say:
Interesting.
Ah yes, this is what I wanted to talk to you guys about.
So, after discussions with various people last night, I've decided not to go through with the messages thing here. So I guess I owe you guys an explanation. As you all know, this whole thing pretty much started on the EM forums, where they'd offered to help out with the messages, and even expand on the project. However even before coming here I'd been having some reservations about EM being the ones to send it off, as I wasn't sure how that was going to fly tact wise etc etc, so long story short, when you guys offered a solution (with the theatre fb page,) I think I jumped into it too quickly.
Basically I'd already agreed to the project with EM, and they were nice enough to agree to help me out with it (now before I go on, at this point I'm really not looking to get back into the whole EM politics discussion, we've spent a stressful few days debating it so let's just leave it lie, but I do feel I owe you guys an explanation,) so with that being said, it was kinda wrong of me to go back on that without properly thinking it through.
So yes I know I'm backsliding on what I said I'd do, and that's going to annoy a lot of you (honestly, I'm annoyed at myself here more than anything, for not thinking this stuff through.)
However that doesn't mean the messages thing over here can't still go ahead, because I think it's important you guys be able to get your messages across in your own way, according to your principals and without fear of censorship or whatever other reservations you might have. That being said, it doesn't make much sense for me to be starting the thread, as my main purpose was to bring the messages from the other forum over, and that's not going to be happening. So go ahead and do this thing in whatever way you guys want :)
And honestly, this really was supposed to be a simple thing. Its just a damn thank you thing, I really shouldn't have let it escalate into a weeks worth of arguments. I just want to go back to basics on the damn thing, so I'm keeping it in the EM forum.
So, as stated in the quote, if you're inclined to come on over to the other forums, that's great. If not, completely ok.
At least its been an interesting week :/

OK, where is my pitchfork! :ebil:
Seriously, now...
It has already been done, my friend, you see? You, too, have played your modest role. You may return to the soulless ones now, young novice. The true Thief fans will take it from here. Run along now, and hey! If you hurry, you may still collect some fame points. Um, on your way out, I would avoid *that* back alley if I were you. (run)

Each to their own, Skaadi. I think we (TTLG Taffers) accomplished what we wanted, and that was to let Mr. Russell know of our admiration, dedication and support, as well as to express our thanks for all the voices he's done, not only in the Thief saga, but other games as well. He's also aware of the petition now as well, so in my mind it's 'mission accomplished'.
Everyone is free to do as they please, so if it makes you feel better then by all means continue with your thank you card project over at EM. No harm done as far as I can see. And if the card reaches him with all the sincere fan messages intact, then all the better. One thank you thread in one forum is not mutally exclusive of another in another forum.
It's just a plus that Mr. Russell chose to respond here at TTLG; acknowledging our support, etc., and sending his thanks for same was just way cool.

Yeah, I don't wanna spoil this for you - it was a nice idea - but honestly while I've nothing against Eidos, I've no love for them either and I'd rather stay independent (and then some) of all that Public Relations crap. Sorry.

And huge thanks to you, Dia, for making it happen. Stephen Russell just graced the hallowed halls of TTLG!!! You truly are one hardcore Tafferette! :ebil:

All I did was run amok (Thief berserker-mode, I guess ;) ) and post something on an FB page that possibly could've backfired, silly boy. :o It was SR who said he'd already decided to post a message of thanks to all us Taffers here at TTLG.
Love to you anyway.

Yes, but that passionate outburst is highly representative of the rest of us hardcore Thief: The Dark Project fanatics. The sooner Mr. Russell got here, the better! :ebil:

You're free to do as you wish, it was your project...however I do implore you to reconsider. EM offered to forward the messages to Mr. Russell on your behalf, but you are by no means bound to this agreement. They don't own the messages. Maybe they have the best of intentions, but I feel it is disingenuous and somewhat of a back handed PR stunt. That really sours my stomach. :(
Mr. Russell has seen the petition and many of the messages. We can get them to him ourselves.
Eidos may be the 'official' forums, but I personally feel that the 'heart' of Thief lives here. We may bicker amongst ourselves sometimes, but that's family and when obstacles come up, we band together.
Hope you'll reconsider. This is rather disappointing and we need you.

I'd guess Eidos were unhappy about messages posted on its boards being copied elsewhere.
