I signed the petition, but refuse to sign the card. If the card were being sent by a bunch of grateful and well meaning fans that would be one thing. But I don't trust EM anymore and to me (just
my opinion, mind you) EM sending SR a 'thank you card' is akin to just giving him a gold watch and saying 'Don't let the door hit you in the ass on your way out'.
I found the FB page for the Wellfleet Harbor Actors Theater in Wellfleet, Mass and asked ever so nicely if SR is still affiliated with their theater group. They responded promptly that '
Absolutely! He's holding auditions for WHAT for Kids! this Saturday'. So I sent a message to Mr. Russell via the Wellfleet Harbor Actors Theater and asked that they pass it on, suggesting that SR visit TTLG (T4 forums in particular) so he can see just how dedicated and loyal his fans are. I also mentioned the petition. I know he'll get the message that way, with no possibility of rewrites, or rewording (not that I believe EM would do anything like that, of course).
Looks like R(andom)T(affer) found my post and added his own message to SR. ;)

Oh man, his theater page. I really hope people aren't going to go flooding that page with stuff about Thief. Thumbs up for resourcefulness, but at the same time....it kinda seems like you're invading his privacy a little. This is precisely one of the reasons I asked EM to pass the messages on, to you it may seem disingenuous but I simply figured it was an official channel, and not, you know, the theater he works at in his town. I don't think it was the best idea posting the link or even the name of the place, because while you've been respectful with your message, I don't really trust other fans not to go on there and start posting a ton of stuff, or arguing etc.

I sincerely hope any Thief fans who post on that page remember their manners and post accordingly. I wanted to express my appreciation in my own way and not rely on the very company that refused to (re)hire Mr. Russell to reprise his role as Garrett. And I don't believe I was invading anyone's privacy in that regard, seeing as how W.H.A.T. responded positively to my question and have actually 'liked' those posts already made. Afterall, it is a public page. If they take umbrage at any thoughtless posts, they have the option of banning that person from their FB page and deleting said post.
Invasion of privacy? I think not.

Well, I suppose as long as people know to keep their manners....
Idk though, it still gives me an uneasy feeling.

They've been in my list of Likes for years. I'm already there. ;) And while I've commented on their page many times, I've made it a point to keep a respectable distance. I was hoping for a way to support S.R.'s love of theatre in some small way, but it's never seemed a good time to mention Thief.

@Skaadi: It gave me an uneasy feeling knowing that EM was responsible for sending thank you notes from fans to SR. I felt that they were the last ones who should be doing that considering they were the ones who decided he was unnecessary in their version of Thief. I felt that a thank you card from them was hypocritical. Which is why I chose to find an alternate way to send SR a message of thanks. I firmly believe EM's motive in agreeing to send this thank you card to SR is a way to attempt to appease the die-hard SR fans.
P.S. Just got a request for my e-mail address conveyed to me by a member of W.H.A.T. Mr. Russell is not a member of FB and the lady said he'd like to thank me himself. Wow. Just .... wow.

Just curious as I can't imagine how ... but in what possible way would this appease the die-hard fans?

EM obviously does not want to come across as the 'bad guy' to Thief fans. So many negative reactions to their T4 news has got to be bothering them somewhat (or not at all, if I'm wrong). So by agreeing to send the card to SR, they're in essence extending an olive branch.

Sorry for the double-post, but I just had to share this:
8:17pm
(From) Susan Blood (Wellfleet Harbor Actors Theater)
Thanks! He was very touched by your message. I work with him at WHAT, but am friends with him beyond the theater. He's been a good friend to our family. And a huge talent!

Cool!
If he emails you, hopefully he speaks with only himself and the fans in mind, and EM has not got him under NDA or a contract against speaking of EM in any shade or hue of a bad light. I expect him to be gracious, and brief, and humble.
In TDS, the first place we see is the Blue Heron Inn.
Wellfleet Harbor has a street named Blue Heron, and Cape Cod has a Blue Heron Cove Bed and Breakfast. :)
