That's cool then because it would have been a complete waste of time otherwise. :(
Campaigning for something you feel passionately about is never a "waste of time". I find the remark insulting, not only on a personal level but toward the community as a whole. :p Over 1000 FM's, Thievery Mod, Thief 2X, Dark Mod. The body of work built by this community outweighs the official offerings by quite a lot.
You often claim to be a lowly moderator on the EM forums and that you don't know any more than we do, yet on this subject you continuously write it off as a waste of time. Aside from what EM have announced, do you have some other inside information that would absolutely rule out EM reversing their decision, beyond the fact that they 'say' they won't? The game isn't due until 2014 and from what we've read so far they still have a lot of work to finish. So until the game is locked down, gone gold, or whatever...we keep trying. If EM doesn't get Stephen Russell back, then at least we have succeeded in letting them know our dissatisfaction.
Stephen Russell will get to see the petition too. :)

Sorta makes you wonder if he's actually aware of any of the stuff going on around the various forums.
TTLG threads about him are on the 4th page when you google "stephen russell", and I'm sure the man isn't above the occasional vanity-googling. ;)

It would REALLY help if you would read and understand my posts correctly and then you won't need to feel insulted.
The "complete waste of time" comment was with regard to Mr Russell possibly not getting to read fan messages, nothing to do with the petition. Please read through again.

It is not a claim, it is true. I know about as much about the game content as you do.
No, on this subject I have only made this comment the once; I have not 'continuously' said it. What I have said is that EM are not going to change their mind and use SR. Please view it as just an opinion, as valued or as worthless as any other person's.

I have asked of course, and their answer remains the same. They understand that some fans are dissatisfied about the decision, which is why they created the blog and their first video to help explain the reasons why. There is nothing else they can say or add. EM have given you their upfront, honest answer.

Sorry, but it really wasn't clear what you were referring to in that brief of a statement. The phrasing was somewhat vague. lol
In any case. 1300+ signatures.

See we can understand how it feels to the other side! Two sides of the same coin! Pagans vs. Hammerites. Balance!

You and I were posting after each other. Don't see what is vague about it.

The only thing I feel incredibly sad about is that SR won't get to read any of the fan messages on the petition.

Why not? I'm sure that he has access to a computer and there are certainly other channels to reach him. EM isn't the only place with connections ya'know. :)

It's vague because the purpose of the petition is to campaign for his reinstatement. If he sees it, that is just icing on the cake, but it is not the primary or soul purpose of a petition. If he never saw it, that would not make our effort a waste of time. Do you see what I mean? Now, if Mr. Russell never saw the electronic Thank You card...that would be a waste of time since the primary purpose of that movement is to deliver thank you messages to Mr. Russell. While having Mr. Russell see our petition is not the primary thrust, it would still be nice if he did and I'll make sure he does.
If you had said something like, "It would be a waste if he never saw those messages" that would have made more sense, but there is no waste of time.

It's not like the petition messages are all nice and written for S.R.'s eyes to begin with, written for EM's consideration primarily. Yeah, the entire point of each thing are very different. The potential best thing for Russell to get out of the petition messages is another shot at Garrett and hopefully other characters in the nuThief universe, not embarrassment.

I agree with this. He'll probably see it eventually, given that his most popular role is Garrett, and that he isn't coming back (yet) to voice him for the latest entry in the series. That would cause some curiosity in me if I were him, and I'd probably look it up.
And he'll probably get fan mail telling him about it.
Also, on a completely unrelated subject, it's my birthday today. Thought it might be worth pointing out.
Can I have SR in Thief 4 as a present, Eidos?
jtr7 on 10/4/2013 at 13:03
If he's getting more Hollywood with an agent and/or manager, then he may not see it but they will.
